Okay, sure, less RNG, but what is easier: porting a whole new system and then tweaking it, or tweaking the one we have (apparently) mostly working now? Isn't virus3 also based on different virus datums, and maybe even its own subsystem?Literally how is it more RNG than virus2 when virus2 only allows completely random mutations via incubator whereas virus3 allows you to control it using chooms?

You can just tweak it to not infect maint mice roundstart, this is nothingburger. Also I've never seen maint mice explode or vomit organs (although the colorful reagent interaction is true), I bet there's a threshold to how powerful maint mouse viruses can be but I'm not certain.
This is literally false, diseases of any type can be transmitted through blood and you can also mutate a sickness with "direct exposure" spread type that will not spread in any way other than via blood if you have a specific murder target and want to minimize collateral damage.
I had a few screenshots shared by (I think) an old /vg/ regular AlyoshaTheSaint of his uberviruses that he decimated the station with but unfortunately they've been lost to time. Virus3 has a lot of configuration possibilities to create beneficial/hilarious/super-deadly viruses, I've never got far and only learned how to cure them but here's a video of messing around with the system in-game for you to get a better idea.
I also never remember either virus2 or virus3 having the good old diseases. GBS, retrovirus (both the kind that copies the SE, UI+UE of its first host and the kind that scrambles your DNA), etc. As individual symptoms, yes, but not as preset viruses that could occur. It also missed the "remedy" part of old viruses, like drinking Manly Dorfs to cure Wizarditis. GBS could be a good fit for the current Riviera since our rounds are rather short and since there's nothing that puts the fear of God in you and the intense desire to fucking call it better than spontaneously exploding at any moment.
