The real game awards supposedly aired yesterday, and various devs are not happy about being featured. A bloodbourne fan game about kart racing, and a boomer shooter called Selaco.

It sucks since I bought Selaco when it first came out after seeing Alpha Beta Gamer do a playthrough of the demo. It's a really fun game, and I'm excited to see where it goes. I wish I waited after seeing the sperg out they had towards Yatzhee's review on Fully Rambaholic and now with this shit on RGA. From my limited interactions on the Discord they have an ego the size of the Titanic on them.

He's right, the game couldn't be made today. But not for the reasons he states.

The Wolfenstein reboot has 1 - too many Nazis, 2 - Nazis being actually fucking evil, 3 - too much violence in general, and 4 - a great depiction of the banality of violence in a brutalized society. The first three just upset the modern sensibilities in general, which is why the sequels upped the absurdist comedy instead. The last one is a problem for the current crop of ideologues because it's not very far removed from what they do given half a chance.

The whole premise is wrong. You couldn't make a game where YOU ARE the Nazi. Everything else is just shades of the same grey.

Multiplayer Axis vs. Allies games maybe. But that's not the same as a story driven narrative.

I don't think this is a tactic for PR reasons. I think modern writers are incapable of handling heavy topics without resorting to "dark humor" because they've never experienced real pain, loss or trauma. Millennial writers will hang a baby by the neck under a street lamp and have their characters react with "how's it hanging?" or "dude... that's so. fucked. up."

Midwinter Minis (a child-abandoning, abusive husband and all-round piece of shit) covered a WW2 tabletop wargame, Bolt Action, on YouTube a year or two ago*. While building a model tank for the game he flat out said that if you play Germans you’re probably a Nazi.
I don’t understand the mentality. Although even with the community there are some who will regard you with suspicion if you play Waffen-SS, which is weird, because nobody seems to have an issue with people playing Bagration-era Soviets who raped and slaughtered every German civilian they could.
I have a Soviet, British and Waffen-SS forces and it’s always interesting to see peoples’ reactions depending on which army comes out of the case.

Its cool to say this or that, and that is why people do it.

Without some form of fashion to signal to niggaz who you are, you may feel alone in this world, and/or as if you are missing out.
