While I'm not in that industry, my understanding is that mechanized olive harvesting is here already- you just have to accept that slightly more fruit will be damaged and downgraded (which can of course also be done automatically). Not a big deal if most of your crop is going to olive oil rather than table olives anyway, but if you're growing castelvetranos maybe you still handpick or run less aggressive machines and handpick the remainder. There are effective solutions even for things like grapes.

Obviously Trump has no intention of actually keeping beaners out. Yeah, that shit won't happen though. People are already barely scraping by. If you want that to happen, either prices will have to increase or corporate profits will have to go down. Since Trump plans to give billionaires more tax breaks, we can safely assume corporate profits are not going to go down.

I would absolutely love it if people who worked in those kinds of jobs (custodians, fast food, clerks, wait staff, produce pickers, etc) made a living wage. It'd be fantastic. Instead the lower class keeps getting poorer while the rich keep getting richer. A huge reason why is that tax cuts for the wealthy have left the poor to pick up more of the slack.

So if prices for produce goes up, everything else is going to go up, too. Companies will have to pay more but still want the same or more profits, so they'll put prices up. This means that grocer stores charge more, which means other companies will have to increase prices to keep their profits up. It's the world we live in and this is going to lead to even more inflation than we saw 3 years ago.

I'd be ecstatic if Trump did a great job and this shit works out to where Americans are hired and get paid a living wage without prices going through the roof. But that shit isn't happening. I hope I am wrong
