A morbidly obese Detroit rapper named Dank Demoss sued Lyft ride-share company after one of its drivers denied service.

The driver reportedly told Demoss she was “too big” to fit inside his Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Demoss filed a lawsuit a week after the Lyft driver told her she couldn’t fit in the backseat of his car. “I got no space. My car is small,” the driver told her.

“I can fit in this car,” she told the driver. “How do you know I don’t have no space?”

When Dank Demoss insisted she could fit in the backseat, the driver replied, “Believe me, you can’t… Order a bigger car, please.”

The driver added, “I had a situation before where someone big couldn’t fit on the seat.”

After Demoss shared a TikTok video of the incident, Lyft responded and apologized for the driver’s “unacceptable behavior.”

The rapper’s lawyers claim weight discrimination is illegal in Michigan. They are seeking damages for her emotional distress.

Lyft has settled multiple lawsuits in recent years. But legal experts say Dank Demoss may not have a leg to stand on.

Drivers are not Lyft employees, they are independent contractors driving their private vehicles. They can refuse service within reason, according to Ride Guru.

Social media users were unsupportive of her plight. Many X users left cruel comments mocking her weight. Others said Lyft should not have apologized because it proved wrongdoing on the driver’s part.

morbidly obese
I think we need a new category beyond morbidly obese. This woman apparently weighs ~500 pounds, and would be morbidly obese at less than half that. She's several hundred pounds past morbid obesity, with what are basically 50+ pound tumors hanging off her body.

When you are quite literally the size of 4 healthy people, you are creating multiple reality-defying problems for everyone around you.

While they may not be direct employees of Lyft, I guarantee Lyft shut this driver's account instantly upon receiving the complaint, and will take months to reinstate it. This fat bitch cost someone their livelihood. (Not that ride-sharing should ever be a primary source of income. It works better as a supplemental job. But, still.)

Reading through her thread in PG, she apparently got him fired.
