Source, since that sounds too good to be true.
I have none, just rumors I've read online. Scuttlebutt is BioWare was focused entirely on Veilguard and a lot of those workers are getting filtered into other EA projects. The dedicated team for Mass Effect 5 is rumored to be very small at the moment and I doubt it will increase after this dud.

People will say it's because of woke
You know what they did that this didnt? They didn't make it their entire fucking personality and above all else, they have actual writing
When people like me say woke or DEI, I am speaking about poorly done or ham-fisted representation. Pushing politics to get government money (Dustborn), to get Internet good boy points/PR (Saints Row reboot) or just because the developers brain is so utterly rotten from their politics that they must include them in the most ham-fisted way possible even if it breaks previously established material (Veilguard). There are examples previously mentioned in this same thread of minority, be it sexual or racial, characters that are well written. People generally don't care about the race or sexuality of videogame characters or if the game includes politics. But anyone can tell at a first glance how the characters in this game are nothing more than the sexuality or race they claim to be. There is no complexity, no character arcs, no evolution, nothing that the player can chew on or ponder about. It's just so dull and lacking in creativity. People also hate it when they are obviously being preached to by a morally bankrupt company.

Edit: As an example. Disco Elysium, a game that has a fuck ton of politics and diverse characters, is considered one of the best non-combat RPGs made in modern times. Why? Because the game lets the player interact with the characters and politics in any way they want. They can be a communist or ultra-liberal. They can be a raging homosexual or a homophobe. They can be racist or tolerant. The game doesn't lock you into good and bad politics, it lets the player meaningfully engage with it. The game is also really well written, with a great soundtrack and art direction.

People will say it's because of woke, or gay or whatever the fuck but let's be honest:

It's just bad writing. It's not because they're gay, or black, or whatever else
To be fair, good writing or not.. i don't want niggers of fags in my vidya. If i am playing some Cyberpunk game set in Detroit or something, fine. But i don't want them appearing in feudal Japan or some European/Asian fantasy setting.

Similar to how I define it when some leftist tard tells me "you chuds cant even define woke!!!". It's not just any diversity like they want to pretend. It's performative. "this is the most diverse cast ever!" "this is the first black Jewish non binary amputee lead in a major motion picture!" It's also used a shield from criticism. They rely on the Redditors to shout down any criticism of a product and blindly support it out of a hivemind fear of being called a bigot if the product is woke. What sucks for Hollywood and AAA game devs is that normal people are so tired of this bullshit.

Welp, I reckon that means that Battlefield is totally fucked now.

There was a tiny chance they’d deliver what everyone wanted: A class based, milsim light shooter with esthetics out of BF4.

Now, with both FIFA and Dragon Age failing, they’ll go all in on trying to make it a cash grab complete with battle passes, skins and hero’s.

Veilguard is not only their third flop in a row; it's the first one that is legitimately franchise-killing. Anthem was new territory; Andromeda was confined to a completely different galaxy with only a few tenuously linked characters like Garrus's father (I suppose one might consider it a gaiden game). Veilguard was the greatly anticipated followup to a game that ended on multiple cliffhangers a decade ago -- and with such a disastrous resolution, where is the story supposed to go now? Their best bet might be to figure out what the next age is called and advance the timeline another 50 years so everything that happened in this trainwreck is no more than vaguely-recalled history.

If BioWare somehow survives to produce ME5, then yes, as others have said then I think ME5 will be the last strike. But I really have my doubts they're going to be given the opportunity.
the only way i see to save DA is for the next people who takes it after bioware collapses to retcon it "everything after inquisition is no longer canon, neither the game not the books or comics are canon"

Honestly, despite this, I still attest it exceeded what I THOUGHT it would get from sales.

But im glad this still ultimately hurt EA, because that game was absolutely awful.
It's not "sales", they explicitly avoided claiming 1.5 million sales, because they're including all demos, free copies for shills and gamepass instances, which by themselves give them close to $0 sold units.

The real reason so many games bomb is that they have nothing unique about them. They are the same generic shit, with cheaply written DEI on top to make marketing through controversity.
This game would have bombed even without the gay shit in it, simply because after BG3, people were still saturated with Fantasy-RPGs, especially with one that gets updated occasionally with new content to this day.
