they lost all their good talent and staff, took a "Dark fantasy" videogame which was always discussing topics of various "Isms" but pretending them in a relatively realistic way (Elves are slaves and treated like shit with 0 rights, Sexism rampantly exists, LBGT exists but there's still derision over it) to this game which literally reads like someone's shitty fanfiction of Dragon Age where they put in the most surface level protagonists with "Le Quirky character traits" like "I am obsessed with Coffee" or unironically "I spend my life writing shitty romance novels". It 100% proves EA just went with diversity hires (Especially when the whole team are blue haired trans niggas) rather than actually good and talented staff to handle this game, when it was handed the keys to be pretty easily successful and had a ton of in-baked potential these morons couldn't help but fuck up.
Also while I got my post time. I know this has been said to death but I can't help myself, the fucking Qu'nari "Vaash" or "Taash" or w/e the fucking name is needs to go down in videogame textbooks as "How NOT to push or include representation in your video game", because holy fuck it's got all the subtleness of me driving a tiger tank through office buildings, it's not even mildly bad it's just flat out awful. The character quickly becomes nothing more than "Modern cringe twitter lingo" and an overwhelming sense of entitlement, the scene where they're ""Coming out"" to their mom and the mom goes "Oh is it like this one thing we have in our culture where you don't identify as your birth gender?" and the stupid non-binary cunt goes "OMG JUST BE FUCKING HAPPY FOR ME MOOOOOOM", like unironically it's sitcom level bullshit but it tries desperately to play it like that's a realistic situation that you should feel sympathetic toward Taash for (Look idfk the name, it's gay and retarded). I've kind of come to the conclusion it's written by some trans-gooner who's trauma dumping through Taash unironically thinking they were a victim of "Harassment and transphobia" but actually they had people trying to understand and they were just entitled fuck ups expecting immediate acceptance.

I haven't seen anyone post this here. EA officially stated in their press release that the game performed below 50% of approximated expectations. They hoped it would sell 3 million copies, but it 'engaged approximately 1.5 million players'. Bioware is most likely getting axed.

No treating the original trilogy like skyrim with its bloated re-releases several times the original install size with even less content to show for it doesnt count. Doesnt even include the still functional Mass effect 3 multiplayer.

I will maintain that the LE is legitimately worth the (current) price of admission due to improved mod support and the gameplay updates for ME1. Then again, I paid 20 bucks for it on a sale.

BG3 being the best comparison since Dragon Age was conceived as a spiritual sequel to the original Baldur's Gate games.

BG3, however, is not, however. Haven't played it yet, but from what I hear it's more of a sequel to Divinity. Still, you're right that it's probably the best comparison.

What sucks is that I like the OG Baldur's Gate formula, but no one really uses it anymore. Except for Owlcat, but I can't really get into those games, the presentation is just too dry for me. DA was just the perfect middle ground.

Here's the question, does the scale and cost of development match the numbers of people who will likely buy the game? If no, then you're looking at a flop. Veilguard was made for an audience that simply doesn't exist in the numbers needed to hang a nearly a decade long and very expensive development cycle off.

I don't really have a problem with this woke slop (and preachy as fuck) existing but the creators of these projects need to just go back into their little corner of culture and stop trying to ruin everything by making all media cater to their views. It's not my problem if the waste EA's money but they drag down franchises that I like until they are dead.

I've made peace with the fact that most of the studios and franchises that I loved are on thin ice. One flop away from the Grim Reaper and I know that their next projects are going to be that flop. I feel nothing about the impeding Mass Effect 5(4?) failure even though I put untold hours into ME1 and 2.

I think the truth that a lot of people aren't willing to admit is we're already in a Video Game crash like 1983. The 83 crash happened because the market was flooded with poorly made games for a quick buck (E.T., Pac-Man 2600, etc.), and that's exactly what's happening now. The only thing that'll topple the actual economics of the industry unfortunately is the fall of a major player like Call of Duty or Fortnite. But unless a major fuckup happens I see them as too big to fail. Game companies can shit in people's mouths like Activision does on a yearly basis and people will still buy it year on year, even though the games haven't been remotely good in over a decade. Luckily, the other fuckups in the industry will do most of the damage to these companies (Redfall for example being a big hit to Microsoft, as well as the slow death of the Xbox). What I can't fathom is how in a cost of living crisis, people are really going out and buying a console that's worth about 2 weeks wages, with no disc drive and no games. It's baffling how unaffordable these consoles are and yet they keep selling. tl;dr fuck the AAA industry, play old games or indieshit

Wokeness is more than rattling off the diversity checkboxes or having whole scenes dedicated to a character's troon experience—the general air of softness and safety, the bright and whimsical nature of an allegedly Dark Fantasy game, the fact that your companions are all one big happy found family as opposed to a band of people with conflicting viewpoints working toward a common goal—these are all woke, mate. I'm sorry to say but the chuds are right this time.
