Maybe they meant they’re 100% staffed by dudes with Asperger’s
To be fair, so do I. Same with train stations. I want socially awkward weirdos who have no distraction other than their love of trains and planes and them being on an exact schedule. I’ll even agree to them being allowed to wear sonic merchandise as their official uniforms.

Possibly not helped by ATC just asking if they see "the CRJ". If they'd said "traffic 2 miles south" (or however close they were) they might have looked a bit harder...
I can see "use of nonstandard radio nomenclature" showing up under "contributing" factors in that NTSB report already......

I get when you're coming from, but this often ends up with unexpectedly bad results. Turns out autists have profoundy inelastic ways of thinking and often can't improvise when the situation calls for it. They also have very hard time communicating and can be impulsive and overeager. In my country outing yourself as a railfan is basically a 100% sure way to stop yourself from getting hired by anything related to railway, nobody likes to work with spergs.

Non-standard nomeclature is bread and butter for am*rican ATC.

Don't be a fucking idiot that tries to use nets to control the sky this isn't the 1800. Be smart and use a Sikorsky MATRIX™ system—a fusion of AI, sensors, and automation. Screenshot_20250130_095351_Messenger.jpg

He sounded very cool and in control in what would have been both a horrifying and terrifying situation. He's just seen an awful crash that is at best a tragic loss of life that in slightly different circumstances could have been his plane or at at worst, for all he knows in that moment is some sort of attack with the threat of another crash being imminent.
Panic and you are dead.

My point, is that like anything politically charged, there's just enough truth to it to make it not a flat out lie on the surface. Of course those removals didn't lead to these events. But one can still stand up on social media and screech about him removing them.

A retard convinces retards of his retardedness, yes.

If anyone should get flak, it's the army(?) for scheduling a training flight over a populated area, next to an airport, at a relatively active time of night.
Training typically means any flight that's building flight hours for no real mission specific task.

For example this flight took off from Langley. It's possible the mission was to deliver someone there. The return trip unloaded would be logged as "training hours" flight time. So everybody gets enough hours on the books to maintain qualifications.

Lots of speculation among the figure skating community about some very high level skaters who were known to be coaching at the camp but haven't been publicly confirmed to be ok. Hopefully it's a case of a lot of them being in shock or being asked to wait until all of the families have been fully informed.

Boston figure skating club confirmed that two of their coaches, two of their teen students and the students mothers were on the plain. The coaches are the Russian former world champions who's son had also been in Wichita but was on a different flight.

It’s been a bad, bad week for the AA community. Between this and the loss of a beloved ramp agent at CLT, a lot of people are mourning today - a few mourning over both tragedies. I have zero to add to this discussion but ask prayers for friends. If anything interesting pops up I’ll be here, though.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

In all seriousness, there’s a limit to the ‘tism you want. In a few plane nerd groups/fora I poke around in, a few were simply obsessed on whether they flew on “Iron Annie” or not, with zero care about the actual accident. (Iron Annie was the nickname of the CRJ lost - she had a humorous reputation among crews, including running over a deer.)

There's literally security video of him loading his suitcases on the carts.....

Fucking people acting like it's some mystery how a guy managed to move a few suitcases without arousing suspicions in Vegas....
Ok now explain why the floor he was on was owned by a Saudi prince and Bill Gates.

The amount of people blaming Trump for this and other ATC changes is impressive. He's had 10 days, it's unlikely that any of the airport/TRACON/Center controllers have changed their day to day yet. There was another tower managed by contractors that got a new contracting firm Feb 1 and is trying to underpay the employees. That kind of thing was signed months ago, nothing to do with Trump

You’d be hard pressed to find any room at a top Vegas Strip hotel not connected to rich people in one way or another. It’s very incestuous and used to tie entities together better in financial dealings. I dunno what you expected otherwise. I’m sure the floor above that had ties to two other notable figures you could concoct a conspiracy about too. 🤷

Edit: Found the culprit. Case closed.

There was another similar plane nearby. Theory is the copter pilot was acknowledging seeing the other plane, but oblivious to the one he crashed into.

This seems to be 100% the fault of the helicopter pilot. The military has special permission to cross through the runway spaces but idk all the specific clearances and logistics involved with a military copter and ATC. Maybe the ATC should have been more specific but they would also assume a copter pilot wouldn’t oblivious to the surrounding air traffic present at a busy airport where he was attempting to cross through a runway and approach paths.

The airplane pilot had been cleared to land and was intensely focused on landing the bird. He was doing his job. Everything about his approach was perfect and should have gone fine. After being cleared to land a pilot should not be focused on anything but that runway. Even if he had gotten a last second warnings “traffic! traffic!” there was nothing he could do that low to the ground on final approach. Last thing on his mind should have been the possibility of a random helicopter plowing into him. He had been cleared by ATC and totally focused on imminent landing in a few seconds.

Something about “doing everything right” as a pilot and still getting killed, along with all your passengers, anyway makes these types of accidents even worse somehow. (Right up there with mechanical failures)

Only a Leftist would celebrate death just because it makes their opponents look bad.
God you're so pathetic. No one asked and you don't actually give any kind of a shit. Sorry some retard on xitter ruined your day but the death of 60+ Americans isn't a platform for you to be a little snowflake off of.

It's the ever-correct suisse-cheese model:
1. Bad traffic procedure (helis flying under approach path)
2. Bad Army pilots (possibly DEI)
3. The fact that it was a training flight (additional mental load on crew)
4. Suboptimal ATC phraseology (didn't say what the distance was, which would clear up the misconception about which plane he's talking about)
5. The unfortunate fact that there was another airplane forward on the same path (which led to the misconception from #4)
6. Nighttime (bad visibility and working during circadian low)

Remove ANY one of these points, and there's no tragedy. Many bad things must happen simultaneously for an air disaster to occur.
