There have been a few YouTube "boycotts" (to varying degrees of success) in the last decade, but I recall a particularly interesting one where some ginger fuck Matt Watson tried to get advertisers to pull from YouTube because of a pretty blatant and easy enough to find ring of child predators sharing timestamps, links, and creepy comments under what was essentially soft-core child porn uploaded by oblivious parents or unsupervised children (kids playing in a bathtub, doing gymnastics stunts, TikTok dances, etc.). Matt was clearly fishing for attention (the timing of uploads and posts and emails were very conspicuous) but he still exposed some pretty abhorrent shit happening on one of the biggest platforms online, on the clearnet, in plain view and completely unobscured. What's interesting about this entire debacle wasn't the attention whore who started it, or the gross content he unearthed, but rather the response of YouTubers. They had the gall to be angry because by hitting YouTube in their pocketbook, Matt was jeopardizing their precious revenue.

All this to say, YouTube and YouTubers dont actually give a shit what TOS you break as long as you're making them more money than you're losing them in PR. Nobody gives a shit to talk about this selective enforcement of TOS (or at least nobody with a substantial platform/fervor behind their movement) because scantily-clad women with bouncy titties and scams aren't subject to such righteous indignation or disgust, and therefore make a shitty campaign. When Nerd City makes a video about the ten trillion Indian Mr. Beast deepfake scams on YT that might change my mind, but it'll never happen.

So? Fuck them. You reap what you sow, and in this life or the next (if you believe in that kind of thing) they'll get their due. Frankly on the scammers part being born Indian is enough punishment for their activities so that's already 1 guilty party taken care of. Everything else will fall into place.

I've noticed weird shit with youtube and librewolf (like I can't open videos in the same tab, only in a new tab), but firefox works fine so far. I assume one of the more aggressive librewolf settings is interfering.

not gonna happen without a big corporation paying the bills, so it will inevitably be shit. afaik youtube was never profitable is carried hard by google.

This is directly tied to payment processing and advertising monopolies, there is no way to pay the content creators like youtube does (even on a per-view basis let alone the actual viewership numbers)

You are crippling yourself financially if you divert views to other lesser video platforms

doubt it, normies don't care. it's like "it's just 5 seconds, I can wait" instead of bothering of looking into adblock (on phone/tv, but I've even heard that from PC users).

Double and triple fuck them, youtube is home to channels like Ukraine's Got Talent, which is chuck-full of kids pole or bellydancing, and many latino fashion/modelling pages with half-naked kids, and if you watch any video with its title or description containing any of these topics, they'll push some of those vids on that sidebar. I've tried add-ons to disable the suggestions, but they keep finding ways to block or break those add-ons, or frontends like Invidious.

One of the best features about NewPipe and its various forks, is the fact that you can download the audio-only of any YouTube video you use it to search for. This is where I get the vast majority of my music without paying a dime.

I have never used Brave, and while I have heard good things about it, I am wary of any Chrome-based browser at this point. Firefox development might be infested with troon programmers, but I really do not give a fuck who makes a browser at this point as long as it is halfway decent and Firefox still gives you a lot of options in terms of how to harden it to your choosing.

Being brought back into the realm of ads by newly using the tv/PlayStation combo, after blissful adblocked years on the computer, has been very jarring.
It's got to a point where I want to scream, and just turn the fuckin thing off. And noticeably it's gotten worse just within one year of it too, ramping up fuck loads recently.

They are clearly not up for playing anywhere near reasonably.

Rumble could be a good alternative but it has the same fugly scroll buttons on the top and is the only content garnering views is magatard brain rot. I fucking hate that now I have to get a taper monkey extension for my ad block to block another ad so I can block the ads. Or we can just all hail the rising sun like everyone else.
