I dont know enough about Anthem or Trannyguard but it probably involves the world ending again in some way.

it doesn't. anthem has the "anthem of creation" (hence the name), ancient space magic the gods used, gods vanished and left their stuff behind. centuries later without maintenance or control the anthem creates/alters all kinds of shit. game itself has you fighting against said altered stuff and an enemy faction, exploring some background lore with a cliffhanger at the end, but no OMG THE UNIVERSE IS ENDING.

It's just that the Resetera, X, and Bluesky tards and the "game journalists" have enforced such a Puritanical uglification of female characters that people take one look at that game like a thirsty person in a desert and lap it all up. It's an otherwise relatively tame game as far as "sexualization" goes, all things considered.

Honestly, Veilguard has failed so badly in it's propaganda approach, that I believe it actually hurt it's messaging. I've seen normies ridiculing the game at this point, if anything it's brought more skepticism, and backlash towards troon ideology.

I made it a minute in before I had to give up. The writing is on par with Dustborn. Started scrubbing to points every half hour.

• 1hr 30m It has musical numbers, also like Dustborn.
• 2hr Gay bear in leather fetishwear
• 2hr 30m Passive-aggressive conversation with black Neil Gaiman OC
• 3hr Another conversation with black Good Omens, possibly a different scene
• 3hr 30m Lore dump with Dream Daddy Chris Hemsworth
• 4hr A brown person is bleeding. Dream Daddy Chris Hemsworth still hasn't buttoned his shirt.
• 4hr 30m Brown person is a force ghost now. Every woman(?) in the scene looks like a lesbian trope.
• 5hr A WASPy Stepford wife appears to be the game's villain

Unless I missed it in between jumps the only gameplay is making dialogue choices. I think the art is quite good for the style, but the lack of animation makes it look really cheap and off-putting.

This shit has been in ""normal games"" for over a decade, frankly it's not mattered because the game hasn't spent hours trying to beat the player over the head like DA:V is. DA as a whole (Along with ME) always touched on these topics, a lot of games (especially within the RPG market) have done but it's always been in a relatively subtle or "interesting" way which doesn't hinder a player's choice to "You must side with the 'good' guys". Example; New Vegas I can decide to ally myself and complete the game with all content and a good load of shit by joining the extremely "Bad" Caesar's legion which is basically an "Anti-LBGT/ Slave mongering / Anti-Tech / Misogynistic" group of maniacs. The game does make most people hate you as you'd imagine that'd cause, but it's provided to you and given to you in a way you can still have fun with the option. If this bunch of fuckwits had put a similar faction into the game you'd be forced to go against them with Taash making dumb twitter-level quips about how bad they are and endlessly discussing how "God women are so much better ANYWAY" or some shit.

i don't even know what they could possibly do in the next game, Shepard took down a race of galaxy destroying monsters that have been around for a billion years, so the next game is either gonna be underwhelming as hell or it's gonna make the reapers seem like less of a threat, either way it's gonna be shit. defeating the reapers is Shepards magnus opus, you can't just keep going after that.

It's clear the plan was to start with a new batch of heroes and a new solar system, where they can have another threat and generally be free of Shepherd and The Reapers. Problem is, that game was Andromeda. You would have to make a followup to that game, which isn't happening because it bombed. Bioware is completely screwed, what they need now is a new IP that doesn't depend on either Mass Effect or Dragon Age as both are effectively destroyed now, but alas they don't have the talent, imagination, time or budget, not even faith from the fans or their publisher. They are fucked.
Can't say I am surprised, I knew that Bioware would end up like this eventually since nu-Bioware(2010 onwards) was just a one trick pony, one who would lose their time in the sun eventually. I just didn't think their meltdown would be so hilarious or pathetic.

Stellar Blade is actually run of the mill oh-so-Korean as far as "sexiness" goes. There are many Korean and Japanese games in various genres that allows one to dress the female characters up in all kinds of provocative and revealing costumes, and a number are far more up there and out there than this game.

That whole controversy showed just how embarrassingly lost as a society the West is: Anti-woke cattle treated their le boobie game as some sort of gotcha that would DESTROY THE LIBS, meanwhile the woke left and game journalists made the game out to be like the second coming of Rapelay, which all the children would play and it would ruin the moral fabric of our society(as if they didn't already do that already). In reality, as you said it was just run of them mill sexy waifu game with some of the most generic setting, plot, characters and gameplay I have seen in 2024. There is nothing in there worth playing aside from the boobies, and even then I have seen better. Gaming is dead, both sides are to blame.

I think they’re just not questioning what popular and trusting the game developers to make what’s popular.

It's not even entirely wrong that the previous games gained a lot of popularity for story elements and some of the romance stuff. People really liked the kind of chatter the characters would get up to between each other when you were just traveling around, the romance stuff seemed completely optional though and you didn't have to have this stuff shoved in your face unless you sought it out.

I remember there was an issue with one of the writers for Origins though, where a woman involved in writing stuff even for random people on the street had tried her hand at writing a novel. Bombed horribly as it had all the kind of tumblr tier writing you would imagine. So there have been signs since the start that the writers were just really bad at what they do.

So what's weird is how they looked to had gone further into ignoring gameplay to instead shove the tumblr writing in your face. It's an easy mistake to have avoided, just make all that stuff optional like making the tranny character something you could make purely optional to interact with or even kill. Would imagine EA has to have learned at least something from all this and will try to tone things down in the future given everything is sick of the woke shit.

What I find so amusing is DAV made Solavellan the default canon ending, and with no more DA likely, the “best” ending of the series.

For all the fan girls thirsting over egg, BioWare literally gave them a walk off sunset happy ever after.

No other PC in any of the games gets this, BioWare wasn’t just catering to female players, but to a specific segment of female players. Giving them the closure and catharsis no one else gets.

That should tell to something about both who the writers were and who they were pandering too.

So you may as well say Inquisition and DAV have canon plots after all, Female Lavellan Solas romance, Redeem ending.

(As an aside, I don’t actually dislike Solavellan the ship or inquisitor Lavellan the character, I just find it utterly telling that the writers/developers are so enamored with it and gave it such privilege).

I think what changed is the passions that drove people into making games. 40 years ago you got into games either because you cared about exploring the technology or you wanted to make the kind of fun experiences you'd always wished you could play. I don't think it's a coincidence so many early PC games were basically just the dev's re-purposed D&D campaigns.

The modern industry has chased those people away. You don't need technical savants like John Carmack any more because everything will eventually run (extremely poorly optimized) on Unreal Engine, and you don't need idea guys like John Romero because doing anything new and interesting is too financially risky for the shareholders to tolerate.

As a result all the best work is now being done by small teams willing to take risks or big studios remaking classic games because fuck backwards compatibility: $70 for a worse version of Resident Evil 4, please.

You need someone who knows what the floor is doing, and that someone needs the authority to say "no, cut that shit". (Of course, the other extreme can be equally damaging. Look no further than John Romero wasting money on Daikatana and Chris Roberts constantly micromanaging Star Citizen into a failed game.) The suits and middle managers that make up EA don't know their ass from their hand, and rely on their underlings to tell them what's what, and it's very easy to pervert that sort of chain of responsibility.

I do agree in general with you and with the New Vegas example, but I think people are either wilfully ignoring parts of BG3 or are way more progressive than the average KF user. I enjoyed my playthrough of BG3 up until the climax of Act 2 where one of the most obnoxious dykes in all of gaming takes a massive dump all over what had otherwise been the best part of the game. Dame Aylin is such rubbish that it should've tanked public perception of that game but it didn't. And before anyone tells me you can go the evil route and get rid of her beforehand or snake her afterwards, I'm not chill with her being such an autistic character in the first place. So, yes, sometimes game devs get a pass for lightly sprinkling in their progressivism in games, but fans also seem willing to eat up turd sandwiches as long as there's also something else on the menu.
