Basically, the rot we see today set in during previous decades. Trends that would dominate gaming today were setting in years before. Razorfist, ironically enough, grew his audience in those early years by pointing out the bullshit going on in the gaming industry and the games' journalist sector. All he needed to do was stick to topics like that instead of whining about weebs and politics, and he'd be in the clear right now.

Both examples showed that companies cared more about profit rather than customer service. The 360 going full red-ring goes to show that Microsoft didn't spend enough time testing the thing, while the PS3 being so expensive might as well had Sony telling customers to eat cake for lunch, when their previous success with the PS2 was because of its versatile price point and large number of games, whereas the PS3 had less exclusives and was overly expensive.

The XBONE forbidding used games at first, and Razorfist jumping to its defense, showed how stupid MS and its defenders became. And yes, PS4 became more focused on graphics over gameplay, which basically made its output be the gaming equivalent of the beautiful, dumb blonde. The Order 1886 was basically a shoddy Gears of War clone, whereas Detroit: Become Human was the equivalent of a Telltale game with a big budget for actors and graphics.

Had to come back to the thread after I saw a clip from Kino Casio about the whole goonergate thing. Of all people to defend why the fuck would Danny white knight for Melonie Mac???

I've been peripherally aware that Raz0r's showing up in a few places like Sidescrollers, and he does seem to be trying to branch out, but him jumping into the Mac shitshow was just...dumb. Like, dumb even for him. Mac's not some victim of cancel culture, she's a wannabe booth babe who applies makeup with a garden trowel to hide the fact that she's nearly 40.

Am I missing some key component to the goonergate thing? From what I can tell Melonie Mac got pissy over an ass jiggling emote in a gatcha game and after people started roasting her for it a bunch of idiots like Raz0r and The Quartering started defending her. Why would Danny pick this weird ass hill to die on?

One out of two reasons:
1) Razor got himself some new backers and they told him to defend her.

2) He's a simp who wants to get laid with her after Eve left him.

I'm leaning towards #1, but anything is possible.

That's why I'm somewhere between 1 and 2. The goonergate shit sounded a lot like the "gamers are dead" crap that shows a hidden purpose between all the puppets yelling out the same message.

But both Danny-boy and Melanie are around the same age, and he could be looking to get in with her.

Melonie Mac is a Christian, Raz0r is a Christian and has been increasingly pushing and open about that. They're friends. Melonie started attacking people who like sexy female characters in video games as gooners, and on a few occasions supported outright censorship. There's an exchange where some people are complaining they censored a scene from one of the Tomb Raider remakes where Lara Croft is dancing on a stripper pole or something. Mac word for word said the same thing the woke crowd has been saying for years, that it was good this was taken out because it "wasn't appropriate for a modern audience." Using the same language backfired.

A few other openly religious content creators came out to side with her and started attacking everyone who disagreed as losers and gooners. Now this is new for me, I'm used to seeing the gooner accusation from trans activist types, but in my experience whenever someone calls someone a gooner for being attracted to normal, generic stuff that appeals to heterosexual men like a busty girl in a bikini they're always without fail into some sick shit and just the slightest digging will reveal they're a furry artist or they write erotic rape fiction, or their steam history is all yaoi and tranny porn.

Raz0r was one of the people who sided with Melonie, and it's bit him hard. Since he was calling everyone gooners everyone responded by calling him a simp. He was up to now a regular guest on a few nerd themed youtube podcasts, but on his last appearance on side-scrollers the superchats were just flooded with people shitting directly onto his face and Craig wants that money so he read them all out. Subsequently Craig said Raz0r announced he wasn't coming back on the show. The official reason is that he's "Working on his books" but he's still making content on his own channel. I think it's a combination of him being pissed at what happened and him thinking it better to wait until this blows over.

I think for Raz0r it eventually will but I think Melonie's killed her platform for good.

Does she live in Arizona? He said like a year ago he started seriously dating someone and occasionally on stream he'll reference going out with "my lady" but I can't picture him with Mac. I picture his relationship with her as similar to his relationship with Chrissie Mayr.

I will say the angle on this that does genuinely have me upset with Raz0r -because as I've said, personally I'm still a fan- is that he trashes any game featuring sexy ladies. He hates Stellar Blade and First Descendent specifically for this reason -though I think part of this is just him being a westaboo and inherently hating games not produced in the US or Europe- and it would be fine for him to have this view except for his take on Baldur's Gate 3. He carried water for that game for months. The game is stuffed to the fucking brim with gay sex. You can fuck a bear, there's an ugly femdom demon bulldyke, there's goblins with tumblr hair, one of your companions is a gay vampire, you can have tentacle sex with a mindflayer, there are multiple actual trannies voicing characters who in the game are playing trannies. That's easy. You see, as I said before, Danny-boy is, or was, once a part of that hardcore DnD-RPG crowd that hated the weebs due to the fact that JRPGs and other Asian games made DnD and DnD-based games obsolete in the late 90s and early 2000s. So of course, he'll take every chance he can get to slag Elden Ring, Stellar Blade, First Descendant, but he gives Baldur's Gate 3 a pass because that is a DnD-RPG in its most classic form. Shitting on First Descendant or Stellar Blade for being gooner bait is just his excuse. It also explains why he gives BG3 a pass, despite being ten times more degenerate than Stellar Blade and First Descendant, because he likes games like BG3. He's a DnD-poser.

I say "poser" instead of "fan", because no fan of DnD who lived through the 80s and 90s would deny that said fanbase was besieged by the Religious Right during those days. People like Spoony still carry the mental scars from that to this day.
