You keep thinking the Corwin Amendment is a gotcha. It's not.
Nothing about the amendment would've changed anything, slavery was already explicitly legal both constitutionally and through Supreme Court decisions.
The South was concerned that if there was enough support for an abolitionist amendment, then there was also enough support for an amendment overturning the Corwin Amendment. And they were right, it probably wouldn't have lasted more than a decade.

Also, I didn't say the North fought the war over slavery. The North fought the war over preserving the Union. The South seceded over slavery, as well as other factors that link back to slavery (State's rights to do what?). It was not the only cause, but absolutely the primary one.

I thought it was a joke because Tammy Duckworth crashed her chopper then lost her legs then played hero to win her senate seat, but it's actually true it's a woman pilot and they're hiding her name. Hegseth needs to get on this, it's bad enough it's a woman, but if it was a Shaneeqwa....

I take it Trump is going through internal soft purging, and then he focuses on economics? I get the vibe he is going through a systematic checklist, probably believes none of his economic policies would stick if he just allowed the swamp to stay like last time.

I do hope he tackles the federal reserve. He seems more willing to tackle boomer truth regimes than last time for some things, I hope he finally defangs the fed and ends inflation.
