DOGE is not a department, it's more of a commission from what I can tell. They can basically provide recommendations, but it will be up to the President or Congress (?) to approve them or not. Reagan had the Grace Commission for example.

I doubt they could touch enough stuff to reduce the budget by $2 Trillion. That's like more than all the discretionary spending.

Honestly I think the most plausible way Elon is going to be kicked out from power by Trump is by using DOGE to fuck up entire government agencies.

That's already well underway. He's targeting the core agencies that enable other agencies. He's occasionally insulated by a layer of bureaucracy, but it's his people. He's got Amanda Scales from X, a Neuralink intern, and some SpaceX twink (allegedly one of Thiel's catamites) at the Office of Personnel Management. They've been busy pushing legally dubious schemes to entice Federal employees to resign. They're already being sued for violating the Privacy Act, and may have violated FISMA and the Antideficiency Act, too. Musk put people from Twitter, Tesla, and Neuralink in the General Services Administration to reduce office space (despite remote workers being forced to find Federal offices to work in). He also has anonymous people interviewing GSA IT staff for some reason. They had not completed the minimum vetting required for an ID card and were badged into the building by Musk's proxy in GSA.

That's what a biological agent would be, a virus. Like small pox or anthrax or possible lab created agents. The Covid pandemic proved how poor the response would be, with any org connected to health or fighting pandemics gutted just as the FAA was.
