I'd recommend Musou Kakyou:

The animation is good (only improves with each episode), the original plot is neat and everyone stays mostly true to their canon personalities, way more than Memories of phantasm at least.
Also it's one guy apparently making these all by himself which is insane. You can really see his artstyle improve over the years.

That's Koishi Komeiji's Heart Throbbing Adventure (KKHTA for short), a pretty famous doujin video series from late 2000's NND which if I remember correctly (probably not, saw it 5+ years ago) focused on a "grimdark" depiction of Gensokyo, most notably depicting Koishi as a psychotic, murderous sped; in hindsight, this series probably started the "kills for no reason" grimsokyo interpretation of Koishi. Honestly, the only part I remember was Hijiri running a cult solely because the video it was shown in used Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting of all things as the BGM. Megumu, one of the top Tengu caused the incident in Unconnected Marketeers by supplying dealers with ability cards to put all the political power of Gensokyo into the hands of Kanako's chosen. The two biggest newspapers in Gensokyo, the Bunbunmaru and its more "trustworthy" competitor the Kakashi Spirit News, are both ran and written by Tengu, who are under order of Megumu due to her status of chief crow Tengu. The Tengu live in their own segregated location, "Youkai Mountain". The only other Youkai allowed there are their assets friends, the Kappa, who are known for their technological prowess, and are on record for drinking blood as a general wellness tonic.Worry not however, the Tengu are our greatest alley!

He does Touhou animations and I'm pretty sure he just likes the setting and character designs but doesn't know much else since all of the plots are equivalent to that of a Saturday morning cartoon, with the talk of grimdark above I'd say his stuff is hopelight. He must have a lot of dedication since he's done it for years and it's impressive for something he's doing solo.

I don't think it started it, but it sure did thrust it into prominence. Since the release of SA people believed that Komeiji sisters were inspired by the "Two Fridas" painting by Frida Kahlo which in itself is a visceral painting. Then there's also the theme of self-mutilation, discrimination, harm, devolving into a bestial mentality, and so on. Lolsorandom slasher Koishi is just a logical extreme of those themes. (one doesn't have to be aware of themes/memes to be influenced by them)

Honestly, I don't have a clear idea on how this is going to go now. Miko-man has had some things in his life get in the way that there hasn't been an update in weeks. I know there's the whole thing of "good things coming to those who wait" but I also question just how long it really should be. It's not like we're making a AA game here or anything similar ot the sort.

Perhaps I could propose releasing a WIP of what has been done so far in the Proving Grounds until it is close to completion. The Monostar Leatherknuckles thread showed me that it won't matter how much time it's stuck in there as long as it will be finished at some point. Then we can probably get more people involved for more funny material and laughs along the way.

Admittedly, I'm also getting a little impatient about the thread status so maybe that will be the course of action, I don't know.

Having known this shitbag all the way back in 2015, I can attest to three things, personally: First, he's been lying about his age since 2015, having claimed for an entire decade to be 25 years of age. Second, he's been scamming artists since 2015 and then just trying to pass it off as a "Whoopsie, I just forgot to pay you, you should have reached out to me uwu" - all the artists in my circle are saying that it's taken them at least a week and a half of constant badgering to actually get money out of him (despite his constant posting about how he wants to buy another BMW). Third, he writes off everyone who opposes him as a "nazi", regardless of their actual political stances (even radical LibLeft art-troons lol), and every time this happens he cries about how LITERAL windmill of peace and tolerance naht-sees are in his DMs telling him they're LITERALLY going to dox and kill him.

Given his comm history, I'd be willing to bet that the comm that caused this controversy was some fucking Islamic grotesque hyper-futa bullshit of his tiger girl OC, Hina Kagiyama, Sekibanki, or some combination of the three. This is literally all he ever comms. This is literally all he's ever commed in the past ten years that I've known about him. He's a pornsick coomer who was probably introduced to and brainfucked by porn at an early age (likely by a certain other literal faggot in the community), and the fact that his bullshit is being posted about on Kiwifarms will give him a fucking aneurysm. Were it not so difficult to actually document anything he's done because he does it in private spaces, most of which I don't have access to (and which he'd get me banned from using doctored screenshots were I to join to try to get evidence), he'd certainly be a prime cow, perhaps even the best in the entire Touhou community.
