The Europeans didn't give up any of their "empires", the countries that had them just made fatal policy decisions that led to their demise. World War 1 and World War 2 destroyed a lot of them. The ones that had any holdings left did try to maintain them, it's just that for the most part they failed. The British tried to maintain control in parts of Africa, The French were kicked out of Algeria and Vietnam, The Dutch tried to hold onto Indonesia, The Belgians delayed leaving the Congo and the Portuguese didn't want to leave Angola or Mozambique but they ran into issues when their government got overthrown in a military coup. Both the United States and the USSR who were the dominant world powers during the Cold War had reasons to support decolonization and the countries of Europe lacked the means to maintain their old overseas territories in a changing world.
I said they wanted to keep a hold of them but couldn't due to various reasons. Maintenance costs money, which were rising too high for countries who went through recent, disastrous wars. The French were kicked out of Algeria and Vietnam, a symptom of mounting unrest. The Dutch lost Indonesia to the Japanese during WW2 and whilst they tried to keep control afterwards, unrest forced them concede territory, and what little they tried to keep, America pressured them into releasing it with the New York Agreement. I don't understand if you're trying to make a counterpoint or don't realise that our positions are completely aligned?

They have absolutely no theory of mind of people who aren't them. Not "their group." Literally themselves. They can kinda sorta understand other leftists, but only barely, and usually just default to letting them do whatever they want.

But non-leftists? They quite literally cannot conceive of them. They have a cartoon supervillain version of a conservative that exists in their head -- a cross between Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel and the Funny German Man from WW2 -- and that's the only thing that exists for them.

The root cause of this is the simple fact that SJWs and Liberals in general are literally incapable of forming a theory of mind for centrists (normal people) and especially 'conservatives'. That is to say, that can't see the situation from another viewpoint even as a purely intellectual exercise. Worse than that, they can't even conceptualize having any viewpoint that isn't their own.

This has been demonstrated through some interesting studies where people were sorted into Liberal, Moderates and Conservative groups. They were given a moral question survey, and asked to complete it three times; once honestly as themselves, then again as if they belonged to the other groups. Moderates and Conservatives were pretty accurate at predicting how the others would answer, but the Liberals were completely off base for both.

As a group they cannot conceive of a "theory of mind" for conservative people. They are unable to even fathom that people can think in ways they do not. Hence their inability to consider that anyone thinks differently or has other moral codes. Not just American conservatives, either, this also accounts for why they are so incredulous about, for example, 'migrants' not respecting the law and raping women and robbing and such. The Radicals simply can't imagine that a Somali-raised brain holds a different worldview.

We asked more than two thousand American visitors to fill out the Moral Foundations Qyestionnaire. One-third of the time they were asked to fill it out normally, answering as themselves. One-third of the time they were asked to fill it out as they think a “typical liberal” would respond. One-third of the time they were asked to fill it out as a “typical conservative” would respond. This design allowed us to examine the stereotypes that each side held about the other. More important, it allowed us to assess how accurate they were by comparing people’s expectations about “typical” partisans to the actual responses from partisans on the left and the right)’ Who was best able to pretend to be the other?

The results were clear and consistent. Moderates and conservatives were most accurate in their predictions, whether they were pretending to be liberals or conservatives. Liberals were the least accurate, especially those who described themselves as “very liberal.” The biggest errors in the whole study came when liberals answered the Care and Fairness questions while pretending to be conservatives. When faced with questions such as “One of the worst things a person could do is hurt a defenseless animal” or ”Justice is the most important requirement for a society,” liberals assumed that conservatives would disagree. If you have a moral matrix built primarily on intuitions about care and fairness (as equality), and you listen to the Reagan [i.e., conservative] narrative, what else could you think? Reagan seems completely unconcerned about the welfare of drug addicts, poor people, and gay people. He’s more interested in fighting wars and telling people how to run their sex lives.

If you don’t see that Reagan is pursuing positive values of Loyalty, Authority, and Sanctity, you almost have to conclude that Republicans see no positive value in Care and Fairness. You might even go as far as Michael Feingold, a theater critic for the liberal newspaper the Village Voice, when he wrote:

Republicans don’t believe in the imagination, partly because so few of them have one, but mostly because it gets in the way of their chosen work, which is to destroy the human race and the planet. Human beings, who have imaginations, can see a recipe for disaster in the making; Republicans, whose goal in life is to profit from disaster and who don’t give a hoot about human beings, either can’t or won’t. Which is why I personally think they should be exterminated before they cause any more harm.

One of the many ironies in this quotation is that it shows the inability of a theater critic-who skillfully enters fantastical imaginary worlds for a living-to imagine that Republicans act within a moral matrix that differs from his own. Morality binds and blinds.

Or, as the old saying goes; "Conservatives think Liberals are stupid, Liberals think Conservatives are evil."

Trump needs to dictate Mexican Marines be sent not just any troops. They are not cartel lackeys. They hunt them. The other branches not so much
I would be wary of US troops working directly with Mexican troops. We just survived 20 years of the Iraq/Afghanistan defense forces constantly stabbing us in the back and being untrainable retards. I'm not getting any sleep if I know Slowpoke Rodriguez is on fire watch.

They litterally arrested a Cartel higher up less then hour after annoucement. I think the Mexican Gov realizes they need play ball. The one month is to give them a chance and drop the hammer even harder if they fuck up/lie.
There has to be some kind of domestic pressure. Like, if you’re a regular, non-connected Mexican and the cartel is running around your town killing random people, and your bitch of a president would rather see your shitty factory tank than do something about them

Biden already got an agreement with Mexico in 2021 for the 10k troops, and guess what, he didn't need to threaten with a trade war to achieve that. The MAGA crowd with the "bent the knee" shit are so funny. They really think this is a big win.
>agreement for 10k troops
>immigration crackdown
>somehow ended up with 10m more migrants

Not a big crackdown I gotta say. Back into the crystal you go.

Consider it as an elaborated expansion onto the point you made previously.

Canada and Mexico are vassals of China at this point. Mexico decided to play ball with the US, at least a little bit right now, while Canada is digging in its feet. Either way, we'll stop them from helping China screw us.
Maybe Sheinbaum wants to avoid being the second case of "First Jewish President" turning into a fiasco.

Why is American ammo so fucking expensive, it's ancient technology at this point.
Ammo is a bunch of metal and smokeless powder. Metal is expensive. It’s the main reason why metal guns cost much more than plastic guns.

If a plastic bullet could handle the pressure of a firearm it’d be made and be significantly cheaper.

Because we may not have the necessary resources and thus have to deal with other countries to obtain those resources. We are able to produce a resource like oil domestically, but the international price of oil still affects the price of oil purchased domestically.

If there is increasing instability in the world, that will affect our ability to export American goods as well as raise transportation costs. Economy slows down, people lose jobs, and society starts to break down.

We live in a complex world, which the US remains at the top because it is able to retain dominance through influence and stability of major, minor, and inconsequential nations.

Point me out one superpower in world history that did not influence countries within its sphere of influence to promote stability and prosperity within its own country.
The problem is this shit isn't black-and-white, zero-or-100.

Yes, the US can't act in isolation or else it will find its borders are all surrounded by assets of hostile empires, but no we don't need the reckless and absolutely unchecked level of spending.
Yes, I can easily justify bases in South Korea or Japan, or sending weapons to Ukraine.

But why in the ever living fuck are we paying for gender education in Africa, aid to countries like Pakistan, supporting "democracy" in countries that don't give us anything in return - all of which is funneled through a fucking money-laundering tier pipeline of NGOs and various organizations and siphoned off for several rounds of admin costs anyways?

You can make the argument for pieces on a chessboard, but why the endless waterfall of US taxpayer dollars passed through as gibsmedats to countries we can't even really call "allies"?

Most of these swamp creatures are going to be outraged and give all sorts of press conferences and performative public temper tantrums.
But the reality remains.
THEY CANNOT DO SHIT TO STOP IT.
I want one of the batshitters to snap and pull a terrorism. Because it will give the excuse to come down even fucking harder and we get an antfifag purge.
