Is Blender good/free? I'd like to give modelling/sculpting a try but I don't wanna spend money on something when there's a strong chance I'll be shit at it and lose interest quickly. I've also seen ZBrush and Maya mentioned by art people I follow, but I have no idea.
Late AF but yes, Blender is free and is a jack of all trades in the 3D industry. It can do modeling, sculpting, textures, animation, FX, etc. but not as well as software specialized for any of these things. The other two you mentioned aren't free.
Maya is better at modeling and is the industry standard, however, many Maya users are jumping ship as it's falling behind Blender. It also has a monthly fee.
ZBrush is solely for sculpting and painting and is very good at those, much better than Blender, but it doesn't handle animations or FX at all. It has both a monthly fee and an extremely expensive perpetual license.
I'm currently trying to learn 3D modelling and it's got a very steep learning curve. It's doable with the amount of free tutorials available online, especially on Youtube, but it can be very overwhelming at first, so temper your expectations.
Title: Boglum Snack Pack Medium: Procreate Challenge name: ... vending machine snacks? Description: A cobes themed snack pack, complete with bogrrito, energy drink and gas station dick pills. Time Spent: 4h 46m on the canvas screen Art Specific Critique: Yes, but I have to admit this was a rush job and I'm not particularly proud of the composition, and the dickpill package has some pretty obvious perspective issues. Permission For User Edits: sure Challenge Feedback: This was a fun challenge - I know I didn't follow it very well, I think it was supposed to focus on packaging design. That was absolutely a failure on my part and probably something I need to work on. Future Challenge Suggestion: I would be interested in seeing specific cow-themed challenges.
Title: Pickles n' milk. Medium: Gimp + old Wacom Bamboo Challenge Name: Snack Pack Description: I hope you don't mind how very liberally I interpreted this challenge's description. First I came up with the snack combo and appropriate cows and I was going to draw the mascots for the food to later put them onto the labels, but then I realized that doing it this way would be putting the cart before the horse. So I started drawing a still life with snacks instead, but I had no motivation and decided: screw it, I'll do as I planned originally instead and will ditch the snack packages completely.
So here we have Sonichu as a mascot of pickles, since we all know how Chris "loves" pickles. And YandereDev consuming his favourite beverage. And it's a combination of pickles and milk since according to a well-known meme it's supposed to give you dyspepsia. Time Spent: ~ 4:30 hours Art Specific Critique: Yes Permission For User Edits: Yes Challenge Feedback: Not a fan of still lives. Future Challenge Suggestion: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Title: Slop For The Common Man Medium: Krita and a tablet Challenge Name: Snack Pack Description: The local vending machine had only these and I'd politely rather starve.
I've got to admit, I've not been a very dutiful Kiwi when it comes to my lolcow studies. They may be fat more often than not but I've struggled with theming food around them. Time spent: Around 3 hours Art specific critique: Yes Permission for user edits: Sure Challenge feedback: I thought the idea was unusual but interesting. Might be suited for more knowledgable Kiwis though. Future challenge suggestion: No idea lol
My my, kiwis hard at work with their scrumptious submissions, I'd buy them all if I could. Just want to let people know I have a poll going on to see what kind of future prompts you want to see for the next couple challenges.
Back again with more art by one who still won't get an account
Title: Tranny Tears Poster Medium: Ibis Paint with a subscription Challenge Name: Snack Pack Description: Inspired by recent events and by a has been harbinger of TTD, an old style ad depicting Dylan's daring new collaboration with Kiwi Farms, endorsed by the President. I originally did it in red, but did a quick edit to offer a green version too, cause you know, kiwi farms. Time Spent: 3 hours and 12 minutes, mostly cause I'm no good at typesetting. Art Specific Critique: Yes please, I have never done typesetting and know the 'tranny tears' part is lacking. Permission For User Edits: Yes, fix my tranny tears, please. I sorta deliberately made it so it doesn't overlap anything precisely in case someone more experienced wants to take a crack at it. Challenge Feedback: If taking the liberties I took is accepted, an ad instead of a vending machine, then it was another fun challenge to try new things with. If not, well, it is meant to be creative week?
Title: Mr. Figtree's Gummy Ferrets Medium: 128x128 Pixelart Challenge Name: Snack Pack Description: Enjoy the work of Mr. Maldavius Q. Figtree, confectioner and game-maker extraordinaire, in 8 delicious flavors! Includes FREE DLC for the hit indie RPG Heartbound! Time Spent: ~2 hours Art Specific Critique: Yes. Fuck my shit up fam Permission For User Edits: Yes Challenge Feedback: As I was drawing this I could feel an ancient and terrible curse descending onto me, but that's just me and has nothing to do with the challenge
Title: Pizzazz Medium: Krita & Blender Challenge name: Snack Pack Description: Step right up to enjoy the Kiwi Pizza Machine's finest fast food!
I'm late as always and this time I don't even have a fancy excuse, I was just a lazy fucker. I took a page out of @IKOL's book and quickly modeled the scene in Blender to help with perspective. Turns out pizza vending machines are a thing and are completely different from general vending machines. Oh, and I'm not gonna show my process for this one as it was quite messy and rushed. Time Spent: No idea. If I were to guess I'd say around 4-5 hours? Art Specific Critique: Have no mercy. Permission For User Edits: Same as above.
Title: Kiwi's Malt Liquor Ice Cream Medium: Clipstudio on a surface tablet Challenge Name: Snack Pack Description: This one is inspired by our trip back home to America after watching tons of King Cobra content. We got wasted at a nice bar, then hit a corner store to get malt liquor and four lokos to try the flavors of the sexiest bad boy while at my mom's house to cat-sit. She was the one to recommend Mickey's, as it was her teenage favorite. Being wasted, we were also pounding tubs of ice cream, and wow, it was an amazing combination. The USA four loko is awful and I'd rather drink kaboom kitchen spray.
Time Spent: This was just a quick fun one to keep up the habit, about 2/3 hours. Art Specific Critique: Go for it, especially tips on coloring digitally. Permission For User Edits: Have fun with it! Challenge Feedback: None at all, still creative and fun.
I didn't include references as I just used the Mickey's and Kiwi Farms logos for the style and color respectively.
Title: Rekieta's Spaghettios & Goyslop. Medium: Krita. Challenge Name: Snack Pack. Description: I decided to redraw a meme I did back when Rekieta was doing cooking streams and cooked something that looked like it would be fed to poor Victorian era children. I looked up if vending machines sell canned food and apparently some places sell canned bread on vending machines, so I think this still applies for the challenge. I also used the colors from his disgusting kitchen. Time spent: 2 hours. Art Specific Critique: Sure, I haven't drawn in a long time so I know I am sloppy. Challenge Feedback: None.
Title: Cobestream - the rough draft Medium: 2b pencil Challenge Name: Snack Pack. Description: Time got away from me so all I managed this time is a rough draft. Time spent: 1 hour. Art Specific Critique: Always welcome, any level Permission For User Edits: Have at it Challenge Feedback: none
Consigning yourself to fate, you come across the services of a shady mystic offering future readings to possibly arm yourself against the unknown. The cards are in what you assume to be a random order, but what really is "random"? We often think the sequence of cards could be anything, but since there are only a limited number of them, someone somewhere knows what that next one is, right? Whether it be a divine entity or mischievous spirits at play, do you dare chance an invitation with the supernatural? Meh, why not, your reading is as follows:
The first card is the Farm's Kiwi of Medals. Opulence is often measured in material wealth, but yours comes in the form of bleeding based and communal recognition from posting something god-like. This visit seems to hint at your future shitposts having many medals in their horizon.
The second is the Persecution card. Not many really understand what goes on in that bonehead of yours, but the deck of cards does. With each puzzle piece, you attain higher levels of consciousness which may one day move you past the 3rd dimension into the great autism beyond. If there is a god, you can sure as shit bet he's on the cosmic spectrum.
The third card is the Faggot in reverse. Yeah, you're gay- wait, it's upside down so clearly you're straight. You need not shoulder the homoerotic tendencies of that degeneracy. You mean you paid to be told something you already knew? Could be worse. For those who are actually gay, hate to tell you this but actually you're hetero, being gay was just a state of mind. What a relief, huh?
CHALLENGE!
Let's stack the deck a bit. We already see the first 3 from the reading, but you've got one more that awaits. Create a tarot or playing card that is revealed next to finalize your fortune (or misfortune perhaps...). As always, feel free to make something farms inspired, or dont.
For those who are superstitious, make a faux playing card that maybe got mixed up in the wrong deck. It really shouldn't be in there, but it was meant to be. Is it a lucky card that never let you down in friendly games of poker, is it a trademark face card you always go in on in blackjack? Maybe invent a card number and suit that doesn't exist, no need to overthink it. If you do plan on doing this, you can make the work easier on yourself by duplicating 1 side, invert it horizontally and vertically, it's cheating a little but I wont hold it against you.
Be sure to include a description for what the card might mean. It could have relevance to a recent event or something you're experiencing as of late (dont power level about the specifics of course). Examples would be an Injury card, there seems to be some ill omens happening all round. Another could be a Carrier Pigeon card because you got some good news in the mail or an opportunity arose, or a 9/11 Tower card because ruination awaits the ivory citadels of the 1%.
Submission Format Title: Name of your submission Medium: Did you use a pencil, pen, a program. If so what kind. Challenge Name: Fortune Card Description: Tell everyone what's happening in your piece! Doesn't have to be long unless you crafted some lore rich detail for it. Time Spent: You dont want to know. Art Specific Critique: Yes/No (If yes, include an intensity like harsh or light) Permission For User Edits: Yes/No/Please Ask. Other users might have some tips to share about your work that could help you improve. Challenge Feedback: Too bland? Was it specific enough? Share you thoughts on how the challenge felt Future Challenge Suggestion: If you have an idea for an upcoming challenge/theme/genre, feel free to include it here.
I've been playing some Balatro recently and thought we could cool down with something a bit more simplistic. A lot of people aren't proponents of the gamba sesh, but there's no harm in a bit of pseudo card counting in the vidja. Binding of Isaac also makes reference with various cards which could help with getting some inspiration or ideas for what to make. Apologies for being late, my writing hand is fucked up and it took me twice as long to cobble stuff together. The quality of the end result wasnt so good this time due to circumstance, sorry about that.
man I hope I manage to get a working drawing tablet in time to do this one, seems fun. Was going to do the last one, but I forgot my genuinely great idea the day after I had it because I forgot to write it down... and then my tablet croaked properly lol. Good luck to all the kiwis who can still draw, I'm looking forward to your works
I wish I was an artist. I have an idea for a THE TOWER card that is just a balldo with all crackets and co tumbling out while it burns on top of a mountain of cocaine.
Oooooo this'll be fun. I vaguely recall someone that tried to make a kiwi tarot or card deck a while back. Does anyone know if anything happened with it?

Late AF but-
Title: Breakfast in the Hood
Medium: IbisPaint on a tablet
Challenge Name: Snack Pack
Description: Full disclosure I was sick as shit for about two weeks and was so zonked off my tits on cough medicine that I don't consciously remember making this. I took my inspiration from a classic Chris Chan moment where his reluctance to drop a Hard-R resulted in a phrase that the CWCki describes as sounding like "a lame brand of cereal". I wish I had the wherewithal at the time to add in Chris's infamous Mr. Popo cosplay as a mascot.
Time spent: ????
Art specific critique: Yes please! I was on another dimension making this but I'm not great at digital art, critique is helpful.
Permission for user edits: Yes
Challenge Feedback: fun design challenge, wish I had more energy to devote to mine.
Future challenge suggestion: Looking forward to this next one!
Oooooo this'll be fun. I vaguely recall someone that tried to make a kiwi tarot or card deck a while back. Does anyone know if anything happened with it?
I like the concept, you should try and sketch it out! It's open for every skill level. Get a bottle of wine and fire up MS paint.
Title: XVI - THE BALLDO Medium: Photoshop Challenge Name: Fortune Card
Description:
THE BALLDO - Symbolizes Ego, Sociopathy, Narcissism, Hedonism, Substance Abuse and Eventual Downfall.
On a tower of shifting cocaine Rekieta built his perverse tower to oversee his youtube empire. Despite the warnings of many that tragedy would strike if he didn't pull up and humble himself he scoffed and mocked them laughing as he savored Dorito Chips in between his alcohol and cocaine fueled orgies with middle aged D level influencer couples. Disaster eventually struck despite his insistent nature and it all came tumbling down as onlookers laughed and stared on in bewilderment.
When drawing THE BALLDO Upright - it warns downfall may be in play - unless the drawer PULLS UP and listens to the advice of friends and well meaning critics on with self behavior - they may be doomed to suffer the same fate as Rekieta.
A reversed THE BALLDO - Means the drawer should have more confidence in themselves and believe in their vision more with ideas and plans they have. However, they should keep in mind to reign in ego and other carnal vices or it may end up all crumbling down the same.
Time Spent: 1 hour Art Specific Critique: No, I don't know how to draw. Permission For User Edits: Yes Challenge Feedback: The Idea of making a card for Rekieta that fit so well amused me.
