That is a very suspect statement. It sounds like he saw or knows about things later in the game and said this to preempt getting roasted when people come across the diverse areas of the game.

I stopped watching after the Synth stuff was mentioned.

I'm not sure if anything else happened later on. I'd guess he scrubbed it simply from mentioning him at all to be safe.

Vavra is an idol of Mack, he made his favorite game ever Mafia(he hosted the most well known fansite for it back in the day). I think this is just him being a fanboy and selling out for free, whatever they have him was extra. Certainly worth his dignity, since that's not worth anything.
BTW Hans is apparently a real historical figure and he's 15 around the time of the game. This can't backfire at all if it's true in any way.
