Probably very idealistic and genuinely caring guy who after being elected fully realized the truth of the dem game and isn't compromising on his very average guy views. Much can be said about Fetterman, but he genuinely seems like what the average Democrat guy used to be and isn't playing the game of bug like unity the DNC lays down. Many of those people have become Republican voters. Expect them to try to take his seat.

That alone can't be it. I strongly suspect there were related circumstances, like relying for help on DEI hires or FOBs who either clearly didn't know what they were doing or couldn't communicate with him clearly or unfairly withheld assistance from him so he genuinely thought he was going to die because of liberal incompetence and biases. Or after care where they treated him like shit at his most vulnerable point because he was a white guy.

I wonder if we'll ever hear that story from him.

My best guess is that he’s an old-fashioned Democrat who had to deal with the modern party firsthand. He shifted after he won.
