They could do some general fat injection, or a full fat graft back into that space, but injections often get re-absorbed and I’m not sure a fat graft would work great. It’s a fat pad they remove, if you look at them they’re a discrete mass, rather than general accumulation. Like the one some animals have under the skin of the abdomen, which is different to the general subcutaneous fat humans have.
Is it reversible? I honestly don’t know. Why on earth would you want to look older and gaunt? It’s bad enough being older and dealing with that, this procedure is like instant ageing

If you think about it, it's not really much different from the dreaded and often critiqued "sweet 16" boobjobs - these are insecure, younger women, who want to look older in order to increase the escape velocity shortly after high school... it's all fucked up and sad. They want to appeal to older men and dodge being seen as "barely legal" by creeps. Additionally, the buccal fat removal is one of those things, like the kardashian eye brows, which makes them look older, but also more androgynous, which in turn, attracts more faggotry adjacent men too - which is probably unintended. And that trend in particular, is probably caused to some degree, by the tranny scourge of the recent decades - they're basically picking up on confused moid's sexuality and become garish tapestries of several, disjointed male-gaze-memes. They come across men who are all over the place: one day the want a towel boy, the other they want a big tiddy goth gf and eventually they end up as shriveled expats in thailand, leaving a trail of exes with tattoed handle bar eyebrows and gaunt lower cheeks.

I think most people want a slimmer face and won't mind looking older and a bit gaunt actually. This buccal fat kinda goes away on it's own when you are 40, but if it doesn't it can sag and drags the features down virtually. They will re-inject all kinds of stuff in their face everywhere else, the undereye, the temples, the cheekbones, the lips, the chin, everywhere expect the lower cheeks because it makes the face looks rounder and less swept up.

They want to look modelesque.
Buccal fat removal sorts of imitate the effect of extreme thinness on the face. Starlet of yore used to get teeth removed.

Via extreme standart of skinniness, high fashion and Hollywood have established a slim, sculpted face as THE beauty standart. It's less about being fresh and young, more about being exotic and striking.
