Defender's Quest 2 was released on January 30, 2025. It's retarded woke garbage that's sparse on content and a massive downgrade.
someone's detailed review
Defender's Quest, the original game, is good. It was made by
Lars Doucet, an Orthodox Christian programmer, and his
friend James Cavin the writer (who writes
faggy soy reddit essays with bonus mpreg but managed to shit out quality work for the game), plus a few other people in supporting roles.
Lars co-founded the company Level Up Labs to develop the game.
Anthony Pecorella is another cofounder, he worked at Kongregate. DQ used to be a flash game, then got a standaline release with Adobe shit, then a haxe/flixel remake with "better" (slightly different) art, a more deeply strategic New Game+ mode, and first hints of wokism (muhtrauma shitting on the best character, bumbling males, etc).

DQ2 was supposed to be a more cutesy-poo but also more technically accomplished game.

Lars had a day job and was developing the game in his spare time.
Development was delayed, as it often happens. Some time during the development, the premise changed: DQ2 would only be a slight upgrade of the original. The engine would still be (and is, in the final release) the engine of the DQ1 haxe/flixel remake. Meanwhile,
James Cavin was cranking out massive amounts of
spergy story, which wasn't all that appealing, but then again I don't know how much of the spergy shit would be put into the game and how much was just idle sperging due to nothing to do.
Nobuo Uematsu, who I understand is a big name in videro james, had composed a soundtrack. He dropped out and was replaced by Kevin Penkin, who made the soundtrack for the original and who I understand is also a big name now.
Early in 2023,
James Cavin was booted off the project and his characters and story thrown out. He was replaced by the nigger cuck
Xalavier Nelson Jr., who wrote a retarded simplistic story and made the lead
a negress. They also got a publisher, Armor Games.
In October 2023,
Lars Doucet's tard son Nikolas
went into cardiac arrest and became a vegetable.
Lars took him off life support expecting him to peacefully die, but he lived and could have lived for years and decades.
Lars himself left the company to
Anthony, settling into a soul-crushing wagie job and care for his son. Notably, in the blog post about his son (see link),
Lars still refers to
James as a friend and quoted the flavor text he wrote for DQ1.
Nikolas died in November 2024.
Defender's Quest 2 was released on January 30, 2025. It has Kevin Penkin's music but he is not credited on the game's page and doesn't mention the game on social media. In fact,
Xalavier Nelson Jr. is the only name credited on the game's Steam page. The plot of the game shits on the original, implying that the bad guy defeated in DQ1 is only an aspect of whatever is fought in DQ2.
This is
James's quote from DQ1 that stuck with
Lars:
and this is an example of
Xalavier Nelson Jr.'s magnificent writing:

(there's a shitton of basic typos, too, because he's too lazy for spellcheck)
TL;DR:
1. a woke niggerfaggot launched a coup, destroyed an indie classic, and strongarmed a guy into betraying his friend.
2. the original developer suffered a personal tragedy
afterward. Do not blame his dead son for what happened to the game, it had been raped at least half a year before he first collapsed.
