Adding to the Gamergate to conservative pipeline meme, the revelation about GJP list and them conspiring to drop near identical anti gamer articles at the same time came off the heels of a similar scandal with a "legit press" mailing list they got outed to be filled with liberal journalists conspiring to kill stories that made Obama look bad and to run stories that featured Obama admin talking points/made Obama look good provided to the journos via ring leader Ezra Klein IIRC.
With the later, Klein and his ilk screeched it was just coincidence not a conspiracy and even pointed out that the list has several token conservatives on the email group (most notably Tucker Carlson, who at the time was at his lowest point career wise after being jettisoned by MSNBC and stuck doing Zoo Radio as the straight man sidekick).
The existence of the GJP and their scheming made people see that the Klein group was lying their asses off and led to a massive collective red pilling moment for a lot of people.
