Yep, the water stored in California is for summer droughts, which happen a lot in California. The water is there so the crops don't fail.

But Los Angeles’ water sources are completely separated from the water system that Lake Kaweah and Lake Success supply. That water system flows into the agriculture-heavy Central Valley — where large farms grow nuts, citrus and grasses for animal feed, among other crops. The water-stressed region is heavily reliant on groundwater and winter precipitation stored in state reservoirs to irrigate crops.

The climate change histrionics are a bit odd because it ignores the fact green-house gas emissions, even when accounting for off-shoring, have largely declined because of the world's move from fracking from coal. Ironically, you've seen progress towards fighting climate change in red states, like Texas, because they have great land use policy that allows them to deploy clean energy projects (like solar and wind) faster than liberal states. One of Musk's strengths is he actually is familiar with permit reform, and understands that from experience that a lot of green energy projects are blocked by paperwork.

People keep forgetting Musk actually voted for Biden in 2020, and his views on certain things aren't as radical as they believe.

PL: I have family who work for the FAA, and I know it, like much of the federal government, suffers from one of the worst software procurement processes known to man. The local FAA office was sold a system that ran exclusively on a specific major version of Solaris Unix and it took so long to implement properly that by the time it was ready, the version of Solaris they'd bought had not only reached EoL but LTS EoL meaning that the system never saw use. Millions of dollars to a software vendor, millions to Oracle for a Solaris license, and like a decade of rollout and expensive personnel training with basically zero benefit.

I know this is the Elon hate thread but if he can somehow unfuck software procurement in the federal government then it'd be a win. Even him just giving handouts to his friends at the big shops like Oracle or IBM instead of low-bid drooling retard shops would be an improvement over the current hell.
