Israel apparently sold them weapons and military equipment which is not exactly aid but sure does look like it when one considers the UN and the United Kingdom cut off international trade with the Rhodesians.

Rubio's turnaround has been wild. I doubted the pick. But I have been wrong about him so far.

He's smart enough to realize that 2028 will be an open primary and that there will be a MAGA movement to inherit. If he does an impressive job over the next four years that's going to win him a lot of goodwill. Even if he doesn't take the nomination, he can make a compelling case for being a VP pick. How much anyone trusts him to continue on with what Trump started remains to be seen, but knows that his own path forward requires doing a great job and coming off as impressive to Trump voters.

I once went to Greenfield Village (a living history outdoor museum which is a part of the Henry Ford Museum) over Christmas. Everything was delightfully cozy and festive in a vintage sort of way, and when we got into the town square it was set up like a small Christmas market with different stalls selling different things. Me and my family walked past a stall that was roasting chestnuts on an open fire, just like in the Christmas carol, and it smelled amazing, like legit one of the best smells I've ever come across. We went up to buy a bag, and the vendor girl insisted we try some before we actually bought one because we'd never had them before and it's "an acquired taste." We did, and it was genuinely one of the saddest, blandest things I've ever had the misfortune of eating, with this weird mealy texture. Incredibly gross, and incredibly disappointing to tweenage me who had been fantasizing about trying those things since I was a little kid. The song lied. It lied to us all.

The actual mature chestnut tree is practically extinct, and those that grow now can't grow to the height, the true scale they used to due to blight. How do we know for sure these chestnuts are actually like they used to be? It's been over 100 years since they started to be infested.

One thing I will say about Rubio is yes he realizes it's smart to follow Trump but he wrote tons of stuff while in the senate directly talking about South America and China detailing what steps he would like to take in dealing with them.

This isn't just Trump wants him to do this he has been focused on those 2 parts of the world for over a decade now and he knows that South America specifically needs to be dealt with because it's right on our border.
