I don’t think anyone expected this and so I can’t really blame them. They could come back from more weapons shipments, but if this actually happens it’s just over.

I’d disagree with the last point. An American occupation would be fundamentally different from an Israeli occupation because unlike Israel we’re a great power in our own right. We’re not a dog that’s lunging on its leash like Israel, we’re the guy holding the chain. An American occupation will also likely be far harder to dislodge. At least with Israel you know that they are in such a shitty geopolitical situation that they have to hold back.
