Kim Jong Nam, half brother of Kim Jong Un, dies in Malaysia - Best Korea is at it again...

Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, has been killed at an airport in Malaysia after being sprayed in the face by an unidentified liquid, police have said.

The the older half brother of the North Korean dictator complained to staff at Kuala Lumpur international airport that his face had been sprayed while he was queuing up for a flight to take him to Macau.

North Korea is like that Crazy Uncle that everybody only here's rumours about and shows up at family gatherings muttering crazy things, then one day goes nut's in a bank and ends up killing all the hostages with a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

That's actually a rather clever way to go about assassinating somebody, presumably the actual North Korean agent behind the plot was never even seen by the woman doing the "prank" and was long gone by the time anyone involved realized something was wrong.

If that is the truth it really is creative, way more creative than I would normaly give North Korea credit for.

I'm just wondering how they are going to be persecuted.

Their action killed someone, but assuming they were duped, they had no chance of knowing that.

They're guilty of whatever pranking someone like that is as a crime. It's generally at least battery to do that. Considering the results, they'd probably throw every conceivable added charge in that they could think of, such as for doing it in an airport. But they can't really be guilty of murder if they had no reason to know that what they were doing was going to kill the guy.

Obviously they're going to investigate as much as they have to to make sure they don't know more than they're claiming and to get any information out of them to assist the investigation.

If there's enough public outrage they might pass stronger laws against those dumb pronk shows.

It looks manslaughtery to me- killing without intent to kill while doing something illegal (battery). No idea about Indonesia's laws on that though, they might follow the Dutch line (about which I also know nothing).

It's a bizarre plan- "just crazy enough to work". That's one way to become a youtube sensation.

I'm just curious as to what kind of poison they used; none of the prime candidates fit perfectly.

Organophosphorus (Sarin, VX and friends) -- For something to act so quickly it is likely a nerve agent. But because organophosphorus are so toxic and are readily absorbed, the assailant has to take an antidote beforehand, which is quite tricky to pull if you want to convince a schmuck that it is a "prank".
Tetrodotoxin (puffer fish toxin) -- a nerve agent, but doesn't penetrate skin thanks to it being a polar molecule. The assailant has to aim for the eyes.
People who proposed Ricin don't even know poison. Ricin works by inhibiting protein synthesis and takes days to kill.

It's not even that farfetched really, prank shows are very popular in Asia so those women wouldn't have batted an eye at being asked to spray people with water.
Especially in the current year of camera phones and social media. "Hey missus, can you help me with a little prank to a friend while I take video? That would be FUN!" Totally convincing.

And not only in Asia: Candid Camera and Just for Laughs: Gags are probably the granddaddies of this type of "entertainment" that had engendered thousands of copycats from Japan and elsewhere.
