if I remember correctly it was a splinter of another splinter based on the shartys /pol/ (where barely any political discussion happens).
Near the end of its life span it got subverted by a bunch of ona larpers coming from a discord server called the totencord which is associated with skibidifarms, soon after when the site became too gay because of the totencorders on the site the admins decided to shut it down. What remained of the site (which was basically just the ona larpers) decided to create a replacement site called splinter.top which barely lasted a month.
