I've got a friend whose family left the Soviet Union when she was really young. In a conversation once I mentioned how the Soviets basically won WW2 (and of course we were the closers opening the other front that made the end come sooner) and she told me I was the first American she'd ever hear admit that or knew about the millions of people they lost.
