I'll be brief and just state that I agree that we need to lean hard into nuclear power. Like, fuck it, RTG powered cars and houses. However Trump's choice to lean into fossil fuel is more about lowering energy and logistics prices in the short term to lower and stabilize the cost of living and make good on his campaign promises. It's quick to reopen a coal power plant that was mothballed or to run extra shifts at the refinery making diesel. What's not easy is setting up new nuclear plants and staffing them with competent people. You can't even really recommission an old nuke plant because the reactor chamber gets filled with concrete and add to that the plant would need a retrofit anyways because the advances we've made in the nuclear front in just 10 years mean you need entirely different equipment to use the new radioactive fuel. But seriously if you're interested in advocating for nuclear power then look up RTG's, amazing piece of technology. I'm still surprised that we're talking about strip mining lithium for electric cars when we've had a better option since 1954.
