Phil is an utter pussy in real life; when some dude from the fighting games circuit took his shit talking at face value and named a time and place, the moment Phil realized he was serious he instantly backed down and ran away. He also ensures as much as possible that he does not have to deal with critics with North Korean tier censorship and refusing to go out for any events anymore due to him being so infamous. I like to think that in another timeline Phil got his ass beat by Jaha and his friends at that one tournament, and he turned his attitude around and became a nice, productive person.

But alas, the universe split in two when he didn't get that Wolverine toy, and we're left with the fat, gouty, mean spirited clown we see today.

That's the other thing I legitimately can't stand about Phil - he is such a bad actor. Seriously, actors in those schlocky "horror" monster movies on Sci-Fi are better, more believable in their performance than he is.

Normally whenever I hear someone has lasted on YouTube for 10 years, like, say, James Rolfe, I'm impressed by their longevity and ability to maintain an audience for that long.

With Phil it's more surprise he's managed to make it this far.

He's lived through spending habits and financial bumps that would have bankrupted an ordinary person 10 times over by this point. He has some strange luck. That or a big pot of money he isn't telling anyone about.

Pretty much this. I stopped listening to all these people pretending to be Nostradamus and predicting when he's gonna be done for.
He lies constantly, is never clear about his situation, gets away with things without any significant consequences, and shakes hands with the shadiest of companies to keep himself afloat despite his very questionable moves towards everyone around him.
