This. There are now, on every platform, even consoles, countless games to play. On PC, the number of games available due to back catalogs going back to the 1990s being available on Steam and GOG is staggering. You have some free time? me if you think I'm seeing things but i genuinely believe that gamers were psy-opped by publishers to associate games with IP's and studios instead of the actual people behind them. It has gotten to the point that if you put a spiritual successor made by the same people who made a classic game and a legacy sequel made by skinwalkers next to each other the former will be more successful commercially. Most gamers probably don't know who made their favorite games unless they like MGS or the name of the director is in the title.

I actually 100% disagree with this assessment. If anything this game is more likely to make KcD a “mainstream” series in the eyes of the masses. I think the people most ardent in defending and shielding this game from criticism will disperse, mostly the coping anti-wokes who don't want to believe the game they wanted to champion for being 'based' didn't live up to that meagre expectation. Some of the writing is a bit shit and fanservicey, and there's an excess in degeneracy with how overtly sexual a lot of the interactions are, but it shines in being a very in-depth world with plenty to do, loads of options you can take through your game experience, and lots of opportunities for people to get creative in their interactions in the world. Want to defend the grove, but you're underlevelled or just not that powerful (or good) at the game? Go collect a bunch of smokepowder and oil barrels, place them outside the grove before the battle starts, and once it does, just shoot it with something flammable and there, battle's over in a blast.

Due to the revelation that USAID was funding, at least in part, a lot of these 'self-hating' causes abroad maybe now Europe can move on since America isn't propping them up anymore. Comparing this to the release of KCD 2 (a game that comprises basic historical authenticity for child rape, Jewish rep and a nigger) shows a deterioration in Mac himself. Mac has gone back on several values that developers are ok to lie (funny stuff when looking at his past videos) and has gone to a great length to lie himself about the game’s content only to backtrack in the same streams (I bet that he’s been talking to Vavra). I also don’t care if the game does well or not, I can control who I support and spend my money on and so can you. KCD 2 has derailed itself massively from what the entire point of the rpg was about so I see it as only a matter of time. I don’t want to support any game that depicts historical figures that are underage as engaging in potential gay sex. I don’t want to play a game that has black and Jewish npcs that are ‘protected’ talk to my character as trash when they aren’t realistically supposed to exist anyway. If you find that acceptable or ignorable then you can do as you will. To put it into context it’s worse than the delusional black and gay people that swear up and down that Queen Charlotte was black, Egyptians were black and Joan of Arc was non-binary.

It’s also my take that Vavra knew exactly what he was doing - say what you want about woke developers at least they’re upfront about it and don’t hide it to secure commercial success. Vavra has shown himself to be disingenuous and I personally wouldn’t trust anything with his paws on it.

Yea, that's a fair point. At this point in my life I'm too busy and old to play games like BG3 that are essentially part time jobs. I just go back to the classics from N64 / PS1 / PS2 era.

I would never put BG3 on the same level of garbage as a Concord or Dustborn or Veilguard. Definitely not my cup of tea, though.
