View attachment 6948389I'm on this autistic on and off journey to complete the ingame dex in each generation and eventually move them all up to Home so I can stare at a complete Home Dex in my phone. I finished Blue on the 3DS and now I'm moving to Crystal.

I'm making things easier for myself by allowing less than legal methods for unobtainable events and transfers to fill in the dex. I won't need to catch the 151 Kanto Pokemon in Crystal, I'll just catch the 100 Johto Pokemon, transfer my 151 Kanto Pokemon and suddenly complete Gen 2 National Dex. When I get to Gen IV I won't need to grind for the 1% Honey Encounter Munchlax and Heracross, I'll just use the Heracross from Colosseum and breed a Snorlax from Gen III.

Gen III looks like it'll be the hardest gen since it can't transfer from previous gens. But after that things should presumably bw easier since it'll just be more of I catching the new pokemon of each gen and transferring the returning ones in.

Yeah they will. I've got a bunch of event wondercard injected and dns exploit pokemon that went through Home just fine. This Mew I got in Blue came from projectpokemon's file of the legit VC Mew event and it went through fine.

I've played every Switch Pokemon game but the only game I actually bought was Violet which is why Paldea's the only decent looking one. But one day I'll get to stare at an almost completed screen almost because fuck the Go Dex
I really need to organize my boxes, my LGPE and SWSH HOME Pokédexes are apparently incomplete and I apparently only have 375 Pokémon registered in the HOME National Dex proper.

And that's good to hear about the PKSM event Pokémon being okay to transfer up, that’ll make getting certain Event Pokémon that much easier.
Wem wem this pokeball plus contains wem

Part of me wonders if that Poké Ball Plus was new or used, if it was the latter than Chris is in for a rude surprise when he sees that it might not contain a Mew due to them being a one-and-done redemption per Poké Ball Plus.

I think game freak could afford to tweak old pokemons by doing what gen 2 did to magnemite when they mafe it an electric/steel type and in gen 6 when they retconned a bunch of old mons into fairy type, instead of just ignoring them or give them temporary fixes in form of garbage gimmicks, they could easily tweak their stats and adjust their type.
Ninetales for example, instead of just making a regional variant, they should have the balls of making it fire/ghost and when asked about it just say "yeah that's something we should've done 30 years ago".

Speaking of ice types.
Maybe they considered Hail damage + Aurora Veil to be OP but when did GF ever cancel something too OP?
With the added buff in defense and Galarian Slowkings move Chilly Reception, it's easy to setup snow and slow switch to an Aurora Veil Pokémon. You don't have to take a hard hit on your weak defensive stat before being able to bring out the screens any more.
The damage of weather rarely matters and hail had no major advantage except for 100% accurate Blizzard anyways. Wouldn't have hurt to keep the chip damage as the already stacked rain teams got Flip Turn.

Finally finished my Revelation Emerald playthru. Here is my writeup on my previous Romhack(and the ones I played before that), which was written...holy crap, nearly a year ago? I guess that's what I get for trying to triple dip with Dead Rising, Fallout and other games on top of Pokemon.
So, I'm ready to do my write up about Pokemon Gale of Darkness ROMhack known as Pokemon XG: NeXt Gen. First of all, here are a few posts to refer to while reading this one:
As usual, I attached a .txt file with my team I used if you're into build autism. The long and short of is that I over-prepared, there were not nearly enough decent trainers that used various strategies or Double Battles to make use of them, could have easily swapped a few of these Pokemon for simple attackers in types I ended up missing this run.

Anyway, I will try to keep it short, I got way too overexcited in my NeXt Gen writeup.
Where do I begin? Well, actually, the author managed to summarize the biggest changes within the mod itself in his description
Unlike my previous romhacks I covered, this one is a QoL hack that changes very little within the story or moment to moment gameplay. It is a collection of bug fixes, patches, improvements, tweaks and mashup of all the features that Gen 3 is capable of with Physical/Special split being a nice cherry on top. I originally wanted to play a much more ambitious romhack, one that introduced new Pokemon and Fairy typing, but alas that one was not compatible with Trigger's PC. This is much more important to me, I plan on playing a romhack of FireRed next so I will have to make sure it is Trigger's PC compatible as well before starting.

I figure everyone here already played Emerald, so I won't waste too much time going in-depth about the features introduced. I will say that this romhack makes the original Emerald obsolete since playing without these changes is an objective downgrade. Even if you are a weirdo and prefer the old mechanics, pre-Physical/Special split, there is a toggle in the menu for Revelation Emerald if you want to play the entire game using that playstyle with the new improvements.

Anyways, here are some Pros and Cons that I found impacted my gameplay the most. There is hundreds of new tweaks and additions, so if you want a full list, read the link provided or download the romhack and read the documentation, it lists (almost) everything.

Pros:
+Visible gameplay optimization: Running Shoes from the start and able to run almost everywhere, game tweaked to run faster including less clicking thru textboxes, most bugs fixed ect.
+Ability to choose the Ruby/Sapphire outfit or keep the Emerald one. This changes not just your overworld sprite but also the front/back and even the Credits scene since the resources are already in the game, just unused. Rival will always use their Emerald look.
+All 386 Pokemon available, be it starters/cross generation wild Pokemon/Legendaries or Mythicals, they are all here. You can even trade-evo right from the game thanks to a trainer whose Gameboy Advance link cable is "broken", so the trade never goes thru. All Pokemon theoretically bankable, including Mythicals/Legendaries, altho I haven't personally tested this. Safari Zone gets a massive expansion with pretty much all of the Kanto Safari Zone Pokemon in the post game, Swarms give rare unobtainable Pokemon in the post game as well. Much like with the outfits, you not only get brand new Trade Pokemon from Emerald but all of the ones from Ruby/Sapphire, original names and Trainer OTs included. Post-Game also stocks the previously useless Game Corner with prize Pokemon like the Kanto and Johto Game Corner.
+New events and rewards for previously useless events make them worth going thru. This mostly has to do with Starters/Legendaries/Mythicals, but there is new misc events here and there. Good use of assets from FRLG and RS that are still in the game but technically unused in the original Emerald.
+Physical/Special split toggle in menu, changes how the whole game plays for the better. Menu now has many, many more selections and therefore much more useful overall.
+Day/Night cycle, different Pokemon appear at different point in the day(Zigzagoons during the day, Poochyenas during the night). Berries will now never wither and die as well no matter how long you leave them unattended.
+You get both Acro and Mach bike at the same time, you can also access a quick-use bar with assigned key items like Fishing Rods, Item Finder ect to avoid going into the menu
+Infinite items in bag, PC items completely removed so you always keep everything with you like in the later games
+QoL changes from later games, like infinite use TMs, natures highlighting the weak or strong aspect of your stats or EXP given for catching Pokemon. After a certain point, you will be able to see the IV potential of your Pokemon in their preview menu.
+Need for HMs almost completely removed, if you don't have a Pokemon with a certain move then a helper Pokemon will immediately be used like in Sun/Moon. Notable exceptions come during the Regi questline and with HM Flash.
+Perfect compatibility with Trigger's PC
+Breeding changes that modernize the mechanic
+Much lower BPs needed for tutor moves in the Battle Frontier. Nightmare and Sky Attack now added to the move tutors from XD.

Cons:
-No visible change during Day/Night, as the engine apparently not capable of it or the dev was lazy. Game never gets dark, so if you set up the internal clock as anything but your current time, you will have to guess if it's actually day or night in-game
-Regi sidequest uses puzzles from Ruby/Sapphire, not Emerald. Unless you know Braille, you will think it is bugged, make sure to check Bulbapedia for the steps
-More QoL changes could be added, for example being able to buy more than one Soda Pop/Lemonade at a time
-No Fairy Typing, could have been a menu toggle like Physical/Special split
-Some moves still have archaic secondary effects even with Physical/Special split toggle, for example Crunch reduces SPECIAL DEFENSE instead of Physical Defense.

As you can see, most changes are minute, but add them all together and you have a great romhack. My cons are mostly nitpicks, I didn't encounter anything gamebreaking or any more serious bugs than what the vanilla game had, in fact most of them have been fixed with this mod. In case it wasn't obvious, I heavily recommend you give it a shot, even if you played Emerald before with a more ambitious romhack. This was the closest I got to playing Emerald for the first time, again. If there would have been a fourth release back in the day that aimed to improve and build upon Emerald, this is what it would look like.

As for FireRed, my last Gen 3 romhack, I will see what I am going to play once I confirm it works well with Trigger's PC. If everything goes according to plan, I will play a very similar QoL 386 Pokemon romhack, albeit with a twist. Looking forward to it, I haven't played FRLG in a dog's age, closet I got to that was playing Yellow on Virtual Console rather recently.

Looks like the romhack I had in mind took more liberties with new content than I originally anticipated, and Trigger's PC isn't having it. I'm currently testing potential candidates with no success. If anyone has any minimal QoL FireRed romhacks that don't change the ability table or add new Pokemon or anything like that, I would appreciate it. Looking at the error logs, I think any change in the internal Pokemon logic seems to give me errors.

I figured it out, you have to get the Pokedex first before the file can be read in Trigger's PC. I guess you get it earlier in RSE since I don't remember having to do the legwork there, just save and check after the rival battle in the lab.
I downloaded and checked about a dozen mods, so I am choosing a new one regardless. The one I had in mind had some unnecessary changes to the Pokemon themselves and some rather cringe new writing, already a red flag. I opted for something much simpler:
It's Fire-Red, but with a Physical/Special split and every single obtainable Pokemon in Gen 3, including Johto and Hoenn mon. On the way to get the parcel, I already encountered Sentret and Tallow as well as the usual Rattata and Pidgey. If I am reading this correctly, there is bound to be Wild Legendary Encounters, hopefully not the roaming kind. I will see if this works out, and I am very interested in other romhacks I found that are move involved. Gen 1-8(or even 9) Pokemon, recreations of Switch era games, some really interesting stuff but no doubt none of this will work with Trigger's PC. Going to save those for a rainy day.
Edit: Looking into this further, ALL Legendaries are now wild encounters, there is apparently no static ones anymore. This means that while rare, you can potentially grind infinite Legendaries. Highly doubt they're bankable, but this might mean you can actually get a competitively viable Legendary of your choice. TMs are back to being one time use, so I will likely have teach my team new moves via Trigger's PC or one of the ROMhacks I already played, since they all have reusable TMs. Enemy trainers seem to have the exact same teams as in the vanilla game.

guys i did it

i finished the kitakami pokedex. too bad all you get as a reward is a glimmering charm, which increases the number of tera shards you get after raids. i don't really fuck around too much with tera types unless i'm doing specific event raids, so i don't really have much of a use for the shards. additionally, the terrarium in the indigo disk dlc is littered with tera shards and you could casually collect random shards as you run about. sure, the glimmering charm is useful when you're looking for shards of a specific type, but that's only if you give a shit about tera types.

anyway the last pokemon i needed was a politoed and i refused to trade for it. fortunately i was able to join a politoed raid and we almost lost.

also i hate these special outbreaks right now. wtf would i want a pikipik, starly, or fletchling

Thankfully the in-game Pokédex, unlike the HOME Pokédexes, doesn't really give a shit about which specific game a Pokémon comes from so completing it is as simple as dropping a Politoed from HOME into a box.

That said the in-game Pokédexes do give a shit about formes so it doesn't consider Ursaluna as being "caught" unless it's a Bloodmoon Ursaluna so you can't get around that by getting an Ursaluna from PLA or GO.

Event Raids and Outbreaks only change when you connect to the internet in-game, it's why I still have Shiny Rayquaza raids and Shiny-boosted Cetoddle/Carbink/Fraxure Outbreaks in my game despite those events being done a month or so ago.

somehow i managed to never catch a politoed in the current gen games, otherwise i would've transferred it from pokebank.

i really should avoid connecting to the internet when they have these stupid special outbreaks. unless they contain pokemon i actually want. even the increased odds of finding a shiny isn't enough to make me give a shit about this current outbreak.

Politoed is somewhat hard-to-find in SWSH (In SV it's only available via 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids found in Kitakami), the Isle of Armor has them spawn as wandering Pokémon in the Soothing Wetlands area when it's raining and the Crown Tundra has 'em in Dynamax Adventures.

It's a bit easier to find in the DS and 3DS games but that would require Bank and HOME.

And I am done with Recharged yellow.

Jesus I fucking hate Kanto, this region fucking sucks dick. The author wanted to make a vanilla version so most pokemon locations are similar to the original games (and those were fucking shit like one billion pidgeys)

There are some cool features like the ability to use various selected itens at once, never saw this and it is amazing.

I kinda ended up overleveling my team so the last gyms were easy, doesn't help that there is no auto level scaling. Also no new moves. But there is special split. Why? For me to see my Gyarados and have no option to use a physical move because there is none? TMs werent reusable but you could buy them in the store...

This was my team in the end. Most of the moveset was fucking awful. Last game I played was Black Pearl Emerald and I tried to have cover moves everywhere. Here? Most of them had return, their stab moves and brick break since I could buy it in the store.

It was easy peasy. But guess what happens after you finish it?
1000023114.jpg

You get to be the defending champion, so their team gets stronger and the challenger is someone different. These are some of the challengers I found (alongside James and Oak)

Then I went to cerulean, got mewtwo with masterball then that is it.

Jesus I hate kanto so much, even the remake and an improved version can't save this shit region. I can play one billion hoenn games but I can't be bothered to play a kanto game.

I will only return to this shit region when the next game is a hack that changes everything (even the route I take, I end up getting the super rod before the good one so I go from magikarps to lots of options)

That litoral area with the bridges/bird guys is one of the most retarded map areas of all pokemon games
