Business Fact Check: Sweet Baby and Feminist Frequency didn’t receive hundreds of thousands from taxpayers

A post going around X has been accusing the US Government of bankrolling narrative consultancy firm Sweet Baby Inc, and defunct feminist activist organization Feminist Frequency.

Both organizations have come under fire over the years for alleged offenses ranging from corporate meddling regarding artists’ freedom of expression, to unapologetic calls for censorship.

The post in question uses two sources to call out alleged payments to Sweet Baby Inc and Feminist Frequency. Starting with Sweet Baby Inc we’re given information from usaspending.gov, an official government website with publicly available information. You can check out the two awards here.

The two awards allegedly given to Sweet Baby Inc. are actually associated with an eyewear wholesaler which is listed as: Sweet Baby Inc., but is doing business as (Dba) A.J. Morgan located in Los Angeles. The Sweet Baby we’ve covered over the past two years is a narrative consultancy firm based in Montreal Canada.

Even if it were Sweet Baby Inc, these awards also weren’t any form of endorsement or grant, but were part of the Paycheck Protection Program under the CARES Act signed into law by President Donald Trump. These were loans from the Small Business Administration that all American businesses who qualified were entitled to.

The second source is from Data Republican, a partisan website that consolidates charity funding data. In this case, while it’s true that Feminist Frequency has received $235,220 in contributions. Only $6 of those are “estimated” to be provided by the taxpayers. The remaining $235,214 is speculatively the result of private donors and other forms of income.

Government spending is under increased scrutiny following the recent presidential election. There’s a lot to be critical of and angry about without resorting to misrepresenting the facts.

Who gave them the money though? Where’d it come from?
private donors
hm, that sure is interesting…
Devolver Digital and Landfall Games will match up to $15,000 USD in donations for their Spring campaign.
So these studios gave them $15,000, but where did the rest of the $220,214 come from? (And also, why did $6 come from taxpayers in the first place? That brings up a lot of questions.)

Estimated? Interesting wording.

Member when the heckin' fact-checkerinos discovered a real disinformation around the Black-Antifa-Feminist-Obese-Troon-Raycism-Destroyer flop "Dustborn" game?

And it turned out the conflicting funding grants weren't because they were false, but because it had received multiple 6-7 figure grants from the Norwegian government, the EU itself, and American (NGOs)?

Gonna assume at least a few of those "Peruvian Tranny Theatre Troupe", "Iraqi Sesame Street", and "Sub-Saharan AIDS Destigmatizing" dollars also made their way to the fat feminist anti-gamer outfits.

The American component was probably re-directed USAID funds.
I'm pretty sure it stops being considered Federal money after it hits the first NGO or DAF. I want to say Data Republican found NGOs and such that exist solely to redistribute their funds to other NGOs. They bounce money back and forth all the time. Totally not money laundering or anything.

It is very interesting wording. This feels like a story written by someone who does not comprehend the situation enough to shut up and is trying to own the chuds.

Private charitable donations, when tax deductible, divert money that would have gone to the government.

Money is fungible, so Random Taxpayer giving money to Feminist Frequency and deducting $10 from the taxes that would be stolen from them by the government is equivalent to the government giving Feminist Frequency $10.

Now think about all the tax deductible donations to religious organizations.
Now think about interest on home loans being deductible.

The nation is poorer because the government is giving our tax dollars to churches and banks.

I know NG has fallen ever since the early phase of Sweet Games expose, but I don't expect it this bad.
The fact that they have to write a fact check article means they received taxpayer money, most likely laundered from USAID or other government orgs. Otherwise why not just let people draw their own conclusions from the supposedly $0 on the released documents?
You can never hate governments and journoscums enough.

Just because I've seen other people make this mistake before. The government isn't missing out on $10. The $10 that you donate does not have income tax applied to it (assuming you itemize your deduction), meaning the government is missing out on taxing it at your highest marginal tax rate. For the highest rate this would be 37%. Even for donated money you still owe payroll taxes on it so the government is still getting social security and Medicare taxes on it.

this is incredibly retarded. the nation isnt poorer because government isnt taxing charitable donations. in your situation, the charity gets its money and the person who donated gets to keep that $10 and use it to pay bills, buy groceries, etc. that $10 dollars doesn't disappear, it just stays with the person who earned it allowing them to spend how they want.
