Genshin Impact

After spending 2 days cleaning up some quests, I managed to save up some Astrites for a 10-pull and got Yangyang. Fuck it, I'm just gonna drag my ass through the game with what I have
My dumb ass bought the battle pass when I came back not realizing it was half over. I just hit level 30 and have to scramble to hit as many levels as I can before it goes with the 2 days I have left.

Castorice drip market for HSR. Stream for 3.1 is on Friday the 14th.

I maaaay try for Tribbie, but this girl I'm getting if the fucking game lets me.

Finally finished archon quest from the most recent patch. A whole lot of filler leading to an unexciting dungeon capped by a boring boss fight I just mashed buttons to beat.

Did 5.3 have any content that was good? I can't remember anything that hasn't been a nothingburger. Granted I got annoyed at lantern rite wasting my time and just started skipping dialog as fast as possible.

5.3 didn't add any new regions so the only thing that was really interesting were new characters and the lantern rite minigames. They also made the rhythm game mode a permanent feature either this or last patch which is a nice distraction. Pyro Traveler isn't amazing either but they're a hell of a lot more usable than Hydro, not that it's a high bar or anything.
Story wise? Mavuika's and the Masters of the Night-Wind quests were probably more interesting than the archon quest. Learning about Citlali and why half the tribe seems terrified of her, and also learning about the previous Pyro archons was nice.
Genshin seems to always put the juicier tidbits of lore in character/side quests though it feels like, or god forbid time limited events because this lantern rite might as well have been Hu Tao's Act II, not that I mind since there's no such thing as too much Hu Tao.

It had the free 20 anniversary fates. That was good content /sneed

Also the 5.5 beta is starting and kits are leaking.

Varesa = 5* electric Catalyst

There is no gameplay yet but Varesa is a plunge dps that plays kinda like super gaming. She has 2 skill stack that charge her attack into a rising launcher that you can plunge after, and using her burst puts her in a firey state that resets her skills. Her burst can be used AGAIN while in her burst for a cheaper cost, reseting her skill further. If you got no energy, her base charge attack also works as the launcher into plungee.

Her exploration skill is some sort of "rapid state" where her sprint is simply different from other characters, being much faster and consuming plhogiston.

Varesa Catalyst = High atk low crit dmg

Varesa catalyst gives free atk% and plunge crit damage, giving a much larger crit dmg after casting skill or burst.

>Iansan = 4* electro spear

Iansan is basically the 4* version of Varesa but her burst is support focused. Her skill puts her in a dashing state that your next attack launches you up and you plunge. Once in nightsoul you can charge attack with her to do this launcher. Her burst buffs active character attack based on her own attack and nightsoul but it has a weird gimmick. Her burst is a "pedometer" that recharges her nightsoul as you move around.

This means Iansan is obviously designed to support natlan DPS because all of them move while attacking. Her passive gives a mediocre slow heal, c4 gives a atk% buff and c6 gives dmg buff.

>New artifact set PLUNGE

2pc: +25% plunge
4pc: Plunge attack gives 15 plunge bonus up to 5 stacks

This set is obviously made for Varesa but it will be funny if its Xiao's new BiS

>New artifact set Cryo without energy

2pc: Cryo dmg bonus
4pc: When character has no energy, gain +60% burst damage and 60% normal damage. Hitting normal/burst will stop the other buff for 6 seconds.

This set makes no fucking sense unless it's foreshadowing for how Skirk will work. "No energy" doesnt necessarily mean no burst but no standard energy, aka having a different energy system like mavuika fight spirit. This would mean Skirk most likely has a different energy system and is a normal attacker with a transformation burst that does no damage OR a burst dps. Alternatively, she could be both and have different bursts like Childe does.

People are already theorizing this will also be capitano's set so the cope never ends!

Electro Bennett, because ATK buff, not damage buff.
Otherwise, Mualani would have benefited from Iansan immediately and she's the few moving a lot in her gameplay. Needing C6 to fix the problem for Mualani is sad. Imagine being a Natlan main dps but also bad at deleting Nightsoul shield mechanic.

Varessa at least should fix the issue with plunging gameplay requiring E.burst to play in overworld. Nice powerceep.

MHY is now afraid of so called "sale", delaying marketing after new patch first week instead. Disappointing.

@Noebel, not sure if this the Dori you were looking for?

ZZZ not so great luck, 80+ losing 50/50 to M1 Rina but 20+ in for Eve. Losing 70+ to Lycaon's signature, so I stop. Only missing Grace now.
Overall, she's much better than my S11 with M1W1. Caesar-Astra-S11 version only 2* twin Marionettes deadly assault, while Eve can easily 3* and benefit from new Bangboo.
I may hold on til I get both Trigger and her sig, then I can be contend being done with the game.

I'll admit I had a secret, selfish reason for asking about people's thoughts on Natlan's story. I was curious, but I was also seeing if someone could help me understand why it fell flat. Fontaine was peak Genshin for me. I was on the edge of my seat with every single reveal. I was super invested.

But with Natlan and the whole plot? In theory, it had all the ingredients for success. We got a self-sacrificing archon, a badass and cool Fatui Harbinger, lots of school spectacle scenes, higher stakes, lots of lore bombs like the visual of the fake sky. We even got a higher death count than Fontaine. But I somehow ended up caring a lot less.

I think I agree with the consensus that they overdid it with Mavuika. They tried so hard to make you like her and pull for her that she ended up being boring. It says a lot that Citlali seems to be way more popular.

I guess I would summarize it as being a theme park story. A lot of it was fun, but everything went exactly as planned, just like a train ride, and everyone was super nice, so it felt superficial. Despite all the deaths, it didn't feel dangerous. It was a story that was too safe, too predictable, and too eager too please.

This is pretty much the reason why, everything went exactly as planned, with little to no surprises. We knew from 5.0 that at some point Mavuika was going to go take the fight to the abyss and win, because her banner will be in 5.3. The only real surprise is that she has kept the gnosis. Compare to Fontaine where in 4.0 we knew the prophecy was going to occur at some point, but no idea how it was going to be averted, and that the archon would be put on trial but that was it. I went into 4.2 thinking that they'd stop the prophecy in it's tracks, but nope, it went off and Fontaine was saved because Neuvillette got his dragon mojo back and told Celestia to fuck off.

Varessa and her weapon, definitely leaning into Japanese female wrestling side rather than.... Also, second gyaru I guess?

So prepare popcorn for the salt because skin colour.
The remaining artifact sets from Fontaine will be able to strongbox in 5.5. So have fun for anybody farming even more for Arle, Clorinde, Emilie and Navia.

Aw, I like that character. Too bad I don't play Genshin.

Phoebe's showcase. I think maintenence is today.

Drip marketing for Anaxa. Wind Erudition. Well, that has my attention.

They're really going all in with the super whimsical Pokémon-esque aesthetic lol, she looks like she could be a wrestling cosplay idol, not a Natlan tribeswoman . Take a closer look at her signature weapon, to me it looks perfectly like a gym badge or something .

Also not to do the typical gacha faggotry of "muh game better" but genshin has been dropping the balls in terms of character design ever since Emilie at the end of Fontaine. Zani is a bank employee who works for an influential family, and Phoebe is some kind of holy deaconess, and you can see it in their designs. Evidently you don't need eye-watering amounts of overdesign and fluff to make your characters appealing, the kind of bullshit genshin adds reminds me of indie troons making the aesthetic of their slop so offensively 'girlypop'-esque to make it stand out.

I played wuwa for a few days at launch before the bugs and horrible writing made me bail, but I really like the design on the left, it's very aesthetically pleasing.
So did I, but for a couple of months instead of a few days. Came back recently after the 2.0 update, it's kinda impressive with what they did. I can't tell you about the story honestly, I skip the plot in any gacha that lets me (and I'm thankful for that), but from the few glimpses I've seen and the cutscenes, it's far better than the yawn inducing slop in the base game.
