I mean, cost is always a factor, but if you’ve ever been to the US and gone outside of a major city, you’d see we use wood poles to hang the transmission lines, and even using aluminum most of those shits are droopy and need to be replaced.

If they were holding copper, they all be broken.

Also, cable bridges like the Golden Gate? Those guys have to be concerned with the ductility of steel. The cables need to be re-tensioned on a regular basis.

Copper is extremely ductile. It will stretch under its own weight if you try to make a serious cable out of it
Bottom line is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Overhead transmission makes sense in some places and buried makes sense in others. The lesson is to stop trying to micromanage it from DC and let localities do what they believe works best for them.

Well, at least you're not expressing sexual attraction to a lizard person this time.
Noem is obviously a cluster B case, but I’d let her skin my pets

@SaidNoOneEver i wasn’t trying to defend any particular practice, I was trying to weigh in on what the purpose of aluminum lines is.

In a perfect world, we’d use whatever has the least resistance (platinum?) for the sake of efficiency, but we’d probably have to wrangle an asteroid to get the material

I feel like I'm being gaslit, less because people brush it under the rug and more that nobody ever seems to press on that fact. The guy spent his campaign talking about kids playing with his leg hair, but only at that exact moment he got swapped out was it clear he was going senile.
You are being gaslit. The left wants to memory hole that they ever let it happen and make it look like they were always calling it out or wanted to, but their hands were tied for "reasons".

The right is basking in the warm orange glow of Emperor Trump. Talking about the past too much kills the vibe which might be why people are talking less about it.

Alternatively, Trump gives us so much to talk about every day that rehashing the Biden years is unproductive in comparison to melting our brains at abolishing the Federal Income Tax being within the Overton Window and calling @Fatpacks out for being shit at his job.

She's now the boss of the intelligence branches of our Government.

Women like Tulsi is why I identify as a sapiosexual. She is in charge of multiple intelligence agencies that are male-dominated through merit and perseverance. It's one thing to be in charge of a nation, it's another entirely to be in charge of several agencies that HAVE to answer to the guy in charge. This is who women should look up to as an example of powerful women in society.

The only people who didn't see this coming were the Redditors. Enjoy getting defunded!
It’s almost more fun to watch them get their hopes up and have them dashed repeatedly
Are you factoring in the cost of natural disasters?
hard to do that, because other than Florida hurricanes and California fires, disasters aren’t super predictable

I think it’s funny that the Republicans basically stole the 90s democrats positions and politicians. Imagine losing to your past self and calling it fascistic.
I saw something I’ve never seen before today at Trader Joe’s. An Asian woman with no husband in sight carting around a half Asian half moon cricket son.

Horrifying. I thought Asians were supposed to generally be smarter than us crackas.
In the past the dumb ones couldn’t figure out how to get here or were motivated enough to leave.
This shit soothes my soul, seeing an engaged administration who stands on principle. They're not just finger wagging at those gosh darn libtards stealing tax dollars, they're fighting to get every one of those misappropriated dollars back.

It's not even a substantial amount of money in the scope of the feds, but they're still not fucking around anymore. Beautiful.
Good. Sell off their vacation homes.
It's especially funny since Trudeau is the gay bastard son of Fidel Castro and Freeland's father was an ethnic Ukrainian Nazi sympathizer. Canadian politics are interesting to say the least, in the sense that we may need to make them territories to save them from the Laurentine Elites and their own political retardation. Sorry Canada, the unification of North America was inevitable.
I only want the based parts of Canada joining us. The libtards are not welcome and should have their fate decided and carried out by Albertans.
"Then what?"

The only thing the US has to do is call Putin up to make some spicy "deals" about the current European situation, threaten to disband/leave NATO, and perhaps most importantly completely cut off the oil spigot. Sure they could get it from Russia, but what's that Hans? "You want to keep sending equipment to Ukraine? No more US to protect you? No can do. By the way, can we get the Baltics back while we're at it?"

Go ahead Euros. Go serve a new massa. Push US interests to start aligning more with Russia's and see how well that works out for you.
I’d laugh so hard if the Crimean solution gets solved in the same way as Palestine. #54th state (Canada, then Palestine, then Puerto Rico, then Crimea). #AmericaFuckYeah 🫡🇺🇸🏈💵💸🌎🇺🇸🌕🇻🇮

That's because a lot of the men are alcoholics or drug addicts. It's honestly sad. One girl I dated told me I was a pussy for not hitting her when she was acting insane. That relationship ended quickly. It's a bit TMI but I think exemplifies how fucked up the black community can be.
That could just be generic fucked up chick thinking. They really do be like that.
One time I was performing at a club in Manhattan and hit it off with the door chick, who was a smoking hot Asian. After the gig she told me her apartment was around the corner and invited me back. At her place, while we were starting to go at it, she told me she liked getting fucked in the ass. I told her I was down for it but I didn't have a condom. All of a sudden she blew a fucking gasket and was like, "What the fuck? A condom? Are you telling me that I have fucking AIDS?" And it just got worse from there. She lost it.

Umm...yeah, well, you just told me that you like to bring strange guys home and let them fuck your ass without a condom. Anyway, I got out of there in a hurry and didn't look back.

The normal brain really can't comprehend chick thinking.

oh fuck man your giving me flash backs.

victims of abuse, get twisted especially if it happened when they were young. Like for sexual abuse I ve read articles about how the disassociation protects the mind in the moment but theirs after affects.

I ve know a few women that honestly want to recreate the abuse like they want to go back to the scene of the crime to help processes it.

Others view the physical beatings as showing love, and they fucking instigate it, theres a whole cyle of abuse and some women want to trigger the abuse to feel in control.

On the contrary. The order of magnitude of some of the disasters is already far beyond the cost savings of overhead lines. We don’t even need to do a back of the envelope calculation. This is saving pennies by losing dollars.
Bottom line is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Overhead transmission makes sense in some places and buried makes sense in others. The lesson is to stop trying to micromanage it from DC and let localities do what they believe works best for them.
DC doesn’t regulate shit when it comes to power lines. The grid is a mishmash of competing interests and jurisdictions. Some stuff is private, some is municipal, and Texas isn’t even attached to the rest of the country. The problem with power is that there is very little competition due to natural monopolies. Some level of a nationwide regulation would actually be helpful. We’ve gotten to the point that Republicans are asking politicians to make power companies put cables in the ground in places like California and Florida.

That's a red flag to leave while you can. That's an unstable person wanting to start something as justification for her lack of self-control.
It's bad, dude. For all the wretched shit that I post, I do have genuine sympathy and compassion for the African American community. Imagine being born into that situation - you're fucked.
Not to derail, but that's why I detest the African-American community AND its enablers. When you act out with no consequences, but REWARDED for such behavior, don't be surprised when people act accordingly.

The Democrats have slyly managed to maneuver themselves into the wrong side of every single issue. They even invented new, historically retarded issues, like sex change operations for children, so that they could be wrong about those too.

Some of you older posters might remember the year 2012. A rather countercultural figure named "Ron Paul" ran for president on the promise of auditing the federal government and eliminating waste. Nobody, at that time, identified this as something Right Out of Hitler's Playbook. He was actually the preferred candidate of potheads and hippies.

and now all this retarded court bullshit has been put pretty well to bed unless THEY want to appeal that, which would be asking the majority to rule against them.
I thought this was just 1 of 3 major TROs against Trump's admin. The other two being... firing people and... what was the third? Accessing government systems? Shutting down websites?

I mean if this is shot down, the other 2 are a lock, but, still. Clown world and all that.

That’s not really what happened. The key words in the order are “statutory, regulatory, or grant terms.” If there is a law or term in the funding that says Trump can do whatever, then he can do it. The greater question is whether the executive has a larger constitutional authority to disrupt funding without dependence on a statute, regulation, or grant term.

Now, there are a ton of statutes and regulations out there that you can use to justify cutting some spending program. But the larger question remains. The court did not rule in a friendly way. In fact, when I read the court’s order I thought it was quite saucy and a little rebuking.

Don’t fall into the libshit habit of reading a headline and orienting your entire attitude around it. There is still a fight in court. Trump has not won much.

Shutting down websites?
this one is so absolutely retarded that it's putting up wax paper in front of a tiger swiping at you.

firing people
they're working on this one too, for certain. the one that got struck down here was the important one that was actually obstructing forward progress with things like USAID.

a lot of people don't even really know what to look for in documents like this. a lot of the posters here aren't any kind of legal mind, they're just shitposters from other backgrounds, myself included. trump will still continue to take these things to the supreme court if his advisors say it's not going to let him do whatever he needs/wants to do right now, without question.
