Eh, it's was kinda thin since the beginning and everything we found seemed like a wild goose chase. There was nothing in the other accounts comments to connect him to his forum comments other than the username which is just a Star Sector reference. So there is a reasonable doubt that he isn't the only one who thought to make a username like that.
Apply Occam's razor. The easiest explanation is that the initial assumption was wrong and it isn't him, plus his reaction seemed genuine to me.
If there be any lesson to learn here, then I think it would be the following: Everyone should strive to make good posts in this thread, since otherwise someone else may do so for you.

There's an "Achievement Showcase" where you can pick specific achievements rather than the rarest achievement. You pick the game, select the achievement (in this case letters), and arrange them how you see fit. You can also pick the same achievement more than once, so that's how I got two Gs for nigger. I probably would've been safe but what I think did me in was calling someone typing in some game's chat in Mandarin "Mr.FortyFive" and spammed the Tiananmen Square copypasta before I left, must have went on my account and saw the NIGGER and reported me.
