Cobra Kai

At this point though, it kind of feels like karate is to fucking blame. How many times has this happened now?
Several. But if the show was realistic, they'd have cut the feed the moment tensions flared after Kwon elbowed Robby, and security guards would've rushed in with guns once that Russian sensei knocked out Gunther.

From the beginning, this show has employed a "for the love of God, why hasn't somebody called the police by now?" trope, so I can hardly get upset at it this time. It is absolutely ridiculous that they aired a 15ish minute brawl on world wide live television and nobody thought to cut the feed until somebody (probably) literally fucking died. but hey, that's one of many things I love about this show.

I thought it was mostly a Rocky 4 reference. Especially since they did allude to Rocky in one of the previous seasons.
The evil Russians is very much a thing for films of that era (justifiably) and apt for this show to do it now because a) Russia being Russia and b) the era that inspired this show.

I almost though had the knee jerk assumption that it was just the standard current year of "Russia Bad, Slav Ukraine etc."

Even the Karate Kid movies wouldn't have worked if cops or lawyers operated normally. Something like Cobra Kai would've gotten shut down because their punks bully people on the street, and statistically speaking, they'll wind up socking some kid whose parents have a big bank account. Even Silver won't be able to bail Kreese out of that. Especially if his students are repeat offenders.

Like I said, it was a reference to Rocky IV. That, and KK is basically a 1980s franchise, so it makes perfect sense. Although the Russian sensei seems to have regretted it when Kwon turned up dead, with him covering his face in shame.

They apparently making a new movie that will be out next year.

I'd prefer to live in a world where the "Karate Kid" movie where Will Smith's retard son doesn't even learn fucking karate, because they were pandering to the Chinese market, doesn't coexist with the real version.

to be fair it worked in the late 1980s, as Suburbia showed, the cops and lawyers genuinely didn't give a fuck about the antics of white kids back then because they were too busy with literal gang wars.

But obviously we're in the present where kids are probably getting arrested for using the wrong pronouns and of course some child dying would be international news.

But as I said, with Cobra Kai students harassing and kicking the shit out of kids, statistically speaking, even in the 1980s, they'd probably wind up socking some kid whose parents have a fat bank account and who know the right lawyers. Silver and Kreese would get dragged into a very costly legal battle, especially if multiple parents come forward with kids who got clobbered for no good reason by karate thugs.

I don't even know why Mr. Han wants the boy to train with Daniel. By all accounts, Han's training of Dre was superior to Daniel Larusso's training of Miguel Diaz and Eli Moskowitz. Those two were better off as pure Cobra Kais than Miyagi-Dos.

If I was going to choose a Miyagi-Do sensei to train my kids, it would be Chozen Taguchi, and I'd tell him not to hold back. Larusso's training weakened the likes of Miguel and Eli, and Robby became stronger when he combined the teachings of Kreese with Larusso's.

Honestly the most unbelievable part of that scene was that they broadcast the fight/riot for as long as they did.

I forgot about Dre...

They aren't going to stop until every single Karate Kid movie is redeemed, lol.

Well, I'm interested in this film. Hope it goes well.

They should've shut down the feed after the German dude got knocked out by the Russian sensei. The cameramen should've fled for their lives once the brawl started, and called in the cops.

I already have the new episodes downloaded... I think... but I can't watch them right now yet. I've been introducing a friend to a different show, and I'm still watching some of them with her tonight. Cobra Kai would absolutely not be her thing, and even if it was, she's never seen the older episodes or even the original movies.
I actually ended up introducing this same friend to Karate Kid and Cobra Kai and she ended up loving it all. (All while getting mad at how retarded half the characters act every other episode lol.)

We've spent the last week or two watching all the movies and seasons so it's all fresh when the new episodes drop next week.

We're currently watching the one where Will Smith's talentless child learns kung fucking fu, (because they wanted to reach the Chinese market, but they still wanted to call it "The Karate Kid" for name recognition points.) Since it sadly seems like it's going to be canon now thanks to that movie where Daniel meets Jackie Chan.

This is actually my first time watching this movie, and it's even worse than I thought it was going to be. Will Smith's son is a little asshole, and the character he's playing seems to be no different. It also doesn't help that every 5 minutes this movie seems to have to stop to suck off China or the CCP and it's really pissing me off.

Furthermore, this movie seems fucking obsessed with the myth that everyone wants to touch black people's hair for some reason... even though they fucking hate nogs in China, and that doesn't even seem to be a part of this movie at all, when that would make this movie a whole lot more interesting.

Edit: "Wax on, wax off" is a bit dumb the more you think about it, but I at least understand the principle that is supposed to be being taught by it all. In "Put on your jacket, take off your jacket," Will Smith's talentless son is just flailing his arms around randomly when he fights, it only barely even matches the movements he was doing during his training. This shit is just CCP shill garbage.

If I am correct, it's less than 2 hours before the final episodes drop. I can't remember the last time I've been so excited for new episodes of tv show to drop.
Still, fuck Netflix for releasing this season in the most retarded way possible. You'd think they would have learned their lesson after Stone Ocean. Which... Come to think of it, was probably the last time I was this excited.
Anyway, I don't know when they'll be available on the high seas. I don't even have Netflix anymore. lol

The finale was literally perfect. Omg.

What a fucking delightful show. I'm gonna miss looking forward to new episodes, but damn, the ending was so satisfying. You can tell that a whole lotta love was put into the making of this show.

And even the last part of "Inside the Dojo" got me a bit teary-eyed. It's nice to watch the cast and writers express gratitude and love towards the fans for once.

Still watching the last episode with my friend. (not even halfway through) Lil drunk. THAT FUCKING TRAINING MONTAGE I love this show so fucking much.

Gonna have to sail the seven seas and get the final batch
Do it. It's fucking worth it!
Kreese finally fucking redeemed himself... Kind of. Silver.... at least finally explained himself... (was kind of obvious he was dying after the hospital scene, but they made it mean something. It made no fucking sense at all that they left the final up to Johnny vs the Iron Dragon sense, but I fucking loved it any way. Daniel and Chozen wearing Cobra Kai Gi's... I literally can not even. I have more thoughts. I will collect them later....

I loved that the final episode focused on Johnny fighting for himself, even if people question the "legitimacy" of it in regards to the tournament. It completes the arc of Johnny's redemption and it completes the arc of Daniel no longer being a self-important asshat (seriously, seeing him wearing the Cobra Kai Gi was SO satisfying!). Also, I got a wee bit emotional when Johnny won, and his students hoisted him up on their shoulders.

Perfect. Just ... PERFECT! I love this show so damn much!

Well...it's over. And much like the last 4 seasons, my general opinion is that this shit basically went off the rails after season 2 and never recovered.

The Kreese and Silver showdown had to be one of the stupidest things I've seen in years and the fact that literally NOBODY fucking cares afterwards and it's just promptly forgotten is by far the single most hilarious thing in these episodes.

Robby gets shafted once again even though they've literally been building up his character to this moment for like 3 seasons at this point. At least the creators remembered that this show is called "Cobra Kai" and dropped the gay Miyagi-Do obsession but cramming it in the last 1/3rd of the final season definitely did not work in their favor. And Miguel and Johnny getting their moment of glory was pretty cool too.

That doesn't really change the fact that it feels like half the show was a waste of time at this point and most of the characters that they introduced and developed just get forgotten about. But hey, it could've been way worse.
