This just came up on ZeroHedge and discusses what’s going on there. It’s kinda both

DOGE has already been looking at the Treasury for a while because all payments go through there. They’ve been finding stuff like fraudulent Social Security payments. This is why there’s a lot of confusion. It’s not so much that they’re auditing the Treasury, they are auditing various departments and that has to be verified with Treasury records. The media has started this whole ‘Musk claims are unsubstantiated!’ which is partially true because you need access to the paystubs and only the Treasury has that. Well, now Musk did get access to it and has started finding the receipts, which is making the media and Dems have eggs on their faces. So of course Democrats want access to those records to be revoked. They want to be able to go back to saying that all this waste that Musk is finding is just ‘alleged’.

Learn to code.
This unironically. Bioinformatics is probably the safest and effective jobs in the bio sector, especially important with how oversaturated general CS is today.
If you are researching actual, useful biology then you'll have a job.
I'm hoping to research combatting plant viruses, by modifying plant to express antivirals on command with a simple molecule. The value of such a system could be incredible, allowing farmers to prevent entire plantations from a sure death.

Tangential: The reason the left can't meme is memes arise from bored, young men shooting the shit, making each other laugh, and creating inside jokes. The left doesn't allow that any more, any leftist group conversation is a Maoist struggle session or estrogen-fueled purity spiral. Organic humor isn't allowed any more, making memery impossible.
Memes also require humility. If you cannot laugh at yourself, you can’t make a joke that others can laugh at. The left treats themselves so seriously that even their jokes have to be part of their war to “save the world”

Right, and to maintain the appearance of fairhandedness, they are also reviewing the security of the system, because they’re taking the dem talking point literally

NIH plans to slash support for indirect research costs, sending shockwaves through science

My older colleagues in scientific community are dead scared of indirect costs cuts, which are costs not related to a project (the janitor, security cost, utilities, salaries); some departments are dependent on a lot of indirect costs (biochemistry is ~55%, chemistry too).

I know the Don likes to leverage before negotiating, but I'm concerned about I pursuing doctorate in genetics soon. With how liberal the biology department can be (they love their DEI initiatives), how screwed am I?
>biology

Why aren't you in a real science? Are you a woman?

I disagree with this part. Russia isn't le big bad that it's made out to be and I question if it ever was le big bad and not a psyop for infinity-funding of Operation-paperclip Nazis to experiment on the American people. (MK Ultra for one, popular example).
Russia has been a menace to Europe long before 1945. They literally started ww2 alongside Germany.

As to modern times, sans Ukraine they have active territorial disputes with two other countries, Georgia and Moldova. Ukraine was kinda in the same boat before it boiled over into the current war and I have no doubt that they would’ve invaded Moldova and Georgia as well if Ukraine fell over and died like they hoped it would.

It’s actually Poland who has been calling the alarm on the Russian Federation ever since we joined NATO. Germany basically ignored us (and later the US) and started getting cosy with Russia believing they have abandoned their barbarism.

They were of course wrong.

I fall more in love with Tom Homan every day

AOC, the retarded Democrat bartender, has been holding "webinar's on how to avoid ICE and what to say if your confronted by them" on her You Tube channel.

Homan said on Fox last night:

I sent an email today to the Deputy Attorney General, at what level is that impediment? Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts? If so, what are we going to do about it?' Homan said.

'Is she crossing the line? Maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now, but I need the AG to opine on that, because there's an impediment, it's impediment in my opinion, I'm not a prosecutor, but we need some further guidance on that.'

The border czar admonished Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Squad members who have provided information to immigrants and those seeking to help them evade federal officials and the new laws that govern them.

'This is about public safety, this is about community safety. You're putting the public at great risk, you're putting our officers at great risk, you're even putting the illegal alien at great risk, because anything can happen on arrest on the street,' Homan said.

Oh God please let this happen, the shock it will send through the political system will be fucking amazing.

edit: more news New York governor Hochal has now said that she will invoke her civil power to remove Adams as mayor of NYC for co-operating with the Trump Administration. Thanks to a retarded law as governor Hocal does indeed have the power to remove an sitting mayor of any city in the state of New York although it's never been used.

Oh God please do this, please yank Adams out of NYC just because he's working with Trump there is zero chance that that will backfire at all! Do it Hocal, that will really show Trump whose the real boss of New York!!

You will not receive any sympathy in this thread or even the entire website, so don't ask stupid questions like that. My personal advice would be to emigrate and pursue a doctorate in Australia, Switzerland or the Nordics. Netherlands may become an option as well provided that its current government falls.

That fairhandedness thing is really amusing to me, because if the Dems knew of any republican biased 'inefficiencies', and raised them to Doge, I'm confident they'd investigate and correct them. But they seem so adamant to avoid giving doge any 'wins' that they refuse to try to use the new process in their favor, for fear of vindicating it.

Its just so goddamned petty.

I respectfully disagree on your first point. It's an open secret that Putin had something to do with the 1999 apartment bombings which catapulted him to political office. He is not a good guy and, ever since his election, he has refused all NATO and Western cooperation unless it had to do with killing Chechens not under the control of Kadyrov. I 100% agree with critics that expanding NATO at the exclusion of Russia in the 90's was a fucking terrible idea, but post-Soviet Russian leadership never showed an interest in "joining the club" so to speak, and they either never made security guarantees to post-Soviet states - or they outright reneged on their assurances (e.g. Ukraine).
We can agree to disagree on this point. I can't blame post USSR Russia to not want to join the group of people that opposed them for 60 years.
As for all the weird energy policies, I do agree with you there. A lot of green and renewable energy people are serious innovators. There is a lot of strategic value in renewable energy. However, that industry has become a giant incestuous government slush fund boondoggle.
There are limits set on how much energy a solar panel can produce.
When you look into wind power on a local level that builds a network, you realise how amazing and cheap it is at generating electricity. Which is why it is vilified by the people who push it.
Russian energy sanctions really only benefited countries like India and China that were able to get dirt-cheap energy from Russia. My opinion on the Ukraine War is this started out as a EU mistake that snowballed into globohomo nation-building.
Russia made bank from selling their energy to India, which was sold back to Europe at a mark-up.
Edit to add: the Ukraine War was also a way for the US to do "penetration testing" of Russian military capabilities and study the results. We learned a lot about Russian warfighting - at the expense of the Ukrainians, but data is data. I don't think it's right, but there is a silver lining.
I agree, though the results must have come back as horrifying to the incompetent US military, otherwise a peace and negotiation deal wouldn't be on the table.

OT: Every once-great country has been hit by a competency crisis across all walks of life. No one in the west would win a war against an old school world power.
I bet USA 1940 would walk all over USA 2024, even with the technological advantage that the latter has.

He's challenging a old'ish ruling (Humphrey's v Exector 1935) that forbids him from firing certain leaders of certain regulatory commissions. Mostly the FTC, because the Democratic DC judges are leaning heavily on this old ruling to stop Trump from getting rid of any heads of regulatory bodies.

The only thing FDR ever "deserved" was Polio, and it's a shame it only crippled him and didn't kill the fucker.

I appreciate the reply, but this is historical revisionism. Britain attempted an alliance with Russia in both world wars. Stalin had figured his best chance of survival was the Nazi-Soviet pact - even though they hated one another. Hence this famous cartoon at the time: (the guns are symbolic)

I don't mean to be rude, but I won't reply to WW2 posts, not that I don't want to, but because this thread oft goes on a spergalicious tangent of WW2 and it derails the thread. I apologise to the thread for going down that route again with this post.
