TLDR: Eliezer wrote the Sequences, founded SIAI to "create friendly AI", pivoted to MIRI after a bunch of drama (translation: doomerism got more $$$ than actual research). CFAR was built under the guise of training ppl to use the Sequences effectively, but was actually a grift funnel for MIRI. Leverage was founded explicitly to infiltrate CFAR/MIRI and other EA orgs, to keep them all close enough to Thiel that he could raid them for parts whenever he wanted, or take them over if anything "real" came out of them.

MIRI/CFAR lying to itself about its mission, and doubling down on the "we're all DOOOMED unless we take EXTRAORDINARY EFFORTS!" rhetoric whenever doing so would bring in more $$$, led to a bunch of people having very, very crazy ideas about what was expected of them, and what was allowed.

TLDR: Eli ran away from home at a young age (maybe 14?), hooked up with the rats, started sleeping around with the rats, wound up in the bay with some of the rats, hooked up with the local BDSM scene with Yud's wife, had various shenanigans with $$$ high-rollers, eventually married one of the rats right as she turned 18, continued doing risky shit with Yud's wife until Brent Dill showed up and they informally "assigned" him to "handle" her (his words). "Married her to shut her up" is probably equally informal (there were people, like Anna Salamon, whose job it was to "coordinate" and "suggest" these kinds of solutions to problems.)

You know they're not, like Zonga says, they get too much money and power out of AI fearmongering. Stopping the apocalyptic rhetoric might cause donations to dry up, so it's easier to pretend they haven't essentially made a doomsday cult.

I'm going to dump what little information on Alice Monday I could find. He's hard to find information on for various reasons (Did you know Alice Monday is a very common name in Nigeria? I do, now).

One of the most interesting things to me is that he registered for residency in Vermont with Michelle Zajko:

Meaning he might have some sort of involvement or knowledge of the Zajko murders. However, what interests me in particular is if Alice Monday is his actual legal name or not. Way too many of these newspapers go along with their tranny names even though it makes things more confusing to their readers.

Right now, I think he may be involved with something called sharp.pixelplumbing.com, he's listed as a contributor on a Github project page:

A lot of the LessWrong ecosystem seems like it was designed to prey on people with OCD tendencies. In addition to the AI doomers, you've got the EA types who work themselves into panic attacks over the suffering of cockroaches and plankton, or who believe that you're no better than a murderer if you don't donate 90% of your income to mosquito net charities (as if that money isn't going directly into some African warlord's pockets).

EDIT: I guess it’s worth keeping in mind obviously it would be beneficial for actual Ziz cultists to act as “anonymous sources” and lie about their whereabouts

Actually the googledoc seems pretty accurate, so far. Dont make the mistake of smearing these people with the same brush; everyone talking to Ken has their own individual agenda and perspective. Are those perspectives utterly insane? Yeah, mostly. But they're their own brands of insane, usually in different ways than Ziz.

You can mock them for their actual problems, or you can just dismiss them and move on, but be very careful adding extra spin to all this beyond the facts, even when its funny. If you cover this story up in your head with too many troon jokes and vegan jokes and techbro jokes, you will miss the real gems as they get revealed.
