This is so true. I was mostly talking about the online leftist cohort, but there's another (larger) group of older libs who simply haven't had a software update since the 2000s.

A boomer acquaintance fits this category, he was recently boasting about how Trump's base was "deserting him" because he'd seen the National Review criticizing something or other. Absolutely no concept that National Review is a neocon establishment rag that was never for Trump. In his head, the "right wing" is still a monolithic bloc of conservative Christians in suits trying to put prayer back in schools.

And the weirdest thing is that these aren't people who ignore politics (which is something I can admire). They think of themselves as politically informed and many of them talk about Trump more than anyone here does, but they somehow still manage to live in a 2008 bubble. It's uncanny.
This is a good example and good point. I have the same experience with some folks IRL. I think one of the things that happened is that a lot of these people just completely counted Trump out after 2020. After that, even if they kept up with politics, they didn't keep up with Trump news (outside of what was shoved down their throats like J6 stuff). The speed at which Trump came back, and then won, and has been changing things, is honestly just so rapid that I think it will take people who weren't paying much attention some time to catch up. Things like if the schools improve due to choice, our trade deficit, our debt, MAHA, etc. It still remains to be seen, but if these bear fruit then I think you could see a further shift to the MAGA camp.

One other observation. I feel the same about people who ignored politics, I can respect that, most of the time it's better to focus on things in your life that you're in direct control of. But, I send them some articles about the USAID stuff and how our tax money has been spent and they snap into politics because it's just so outrageous. Not deeply into politics, but at least a bit where they start to look at local elections to figure out who they want to vote for besides just the D or R next to the name.

They live in a reality completely driven by legacy media. They aren’t dumb, but seem to be unable to see a broader picture. This is made even worse when they start getting mighty about shit like the Nazis, yet pretty much prove that no, Hitler would be able to do “xyz” in this day in age. A common one I see is anything with China. Even though that nation literally has camps, the same anti-Nazi people could not give two shits, but muh Russia….

Recently heard a family member talk about how they believe USAID findings are fake because someone would have reported them years ago if they were real. I mean, likely someone did, but they were a conspiracy theorist. What they really mean is CNN, let’s be real… If CNN doesn’t report it, how can you confirm it is real?

I can somewhat give credit to these people for wanting sources, but they take it to a retarded degree. Everything has to be backed by some legacy media fag or late night host to be real, and they cannot understand that reporters are part of large corporations that take advantage of these systems and politics these days. They seem to think reporters are independents, like the muckrakers of old, and are by no means attached to the giant corporate systems they believe them to be exposing.

The fasces doesn't signify a conquering emperor. It signifies the strength of many bound together as one
I'm sorry, no. The Fasces was a symbol of imperium, Constitutional executive authority within the Roman Republic (It was probably Etruscan in origin), and later the Empire. The number of Lictores carrying Fasces in the train of an person signified the amount of authority they had. The sticks and axe directly represented the authority to have someone beaten with the sticks or beheaded with the axe. The harmony and unity shit was a later idea attached to it in the Renaissance. Though tbf the conquering emperor thing is squewed too, so you're both wrong imo.

A couple ice hockey players from the United States and Canada got into a fight with one another right after the game started.

View attachment 6987304

It all happened after a large percentage of the sellout crowd at a center in Canada loudly booed the U.S. anthem. A number of fans also booed every time a U.S. player was shown on video screens during pregame warmups.
Wait, I actually thought this was A.I generated

Shit like this is why I can't hate AI. Not entirely. It gets around journos who want to twist everything- being able to actually hear what a foreign language user is saying makes it that much harder.
that was actually the wrong link because I'm retarded (and youtube doesn't seem to like librewolf for some reason and skipped to the next video without changing the link), but works as well.

EDIT: reminds me of the ai hiter speeches in english that were all over tiktok and then dissappeared for no reason at all :story:

it's not just them, even Team Harris/Biden were clearly under the impression they were fighting the Moral Majority/Neo Con GOP of 1996 or so
I really don't get how they haven't woken up to the realities of modern shitpost conservatism but I hope they continue to miss the memo
Racism isn't cool, bro. Therefore shitposters, which are cool, can not be conservatives. Checkmate chud.

Now please cackle along with Auntie Kamala and donate your paycheck to ActBlue.
