We all know Chantal to know well enough that nothing is going to change. Oh, she’ll make the right noises for a day or 2, while scarfing down enormous quantities of food offline. And if she can eat even more, she will.

Frankly, other than medical care, she’s better off in Kuwait right now. The economy here is a mess and even if there’s no tariff war with the US, people are pretty uneasy.

Rents have never been so high and even so, landlords are being very picky. I don’t blame them as getting rid of a bad tenant can take well over a year. With her history, no landlord will take her and I don’t think they’d take Peetz either.

The price of food is insane and getting worse by the week. Buying groceries to make meals is depressing enough. Takeout or fast food? Forgot it. At least we don’t currently have an egg crisis… for now, anyway.

The cost of everything has led a great many people to cut back seriously on spending. She’s not a huge consumer other than food but even so, she’ll notice the changes.

Our shortage of family doctors gets worse by the month. Luckily we’re not experiencing outbreaks of measles or anything else but we’ve had a rough flu season that is far from over and other respiratory illnesses are way up to.

Interruption for small PSA. Most cases of childhood diseases are annoying but minor. But if you get complications or a bad case, the outcomes can be really bad. Has she bothered keeping up to date with vaccines?

Between geopolitics and the economy, everyone here is carrying around extra stress and in my opinion, rightly so. But that anxiety level means fewer people are willing to put up with shit they don’t have to… including a slovenly slob who just wants to deal and stuff herself.

No, Canada much as I love it, has plenty of issues right now and I can’t see anyone, even family, having time for her shit.

She’ll be hard pressed to get medical care here which will mean any time she thinks she needs a doctor, she’ll be stuck waiting in Emerg for 10-14 hours and no, I’m not exaggerating.

She’s clearly increasingly unhappy but won’t find easy answers here. And Salah won’t be welcomed.

I don't think even inpatient would work for her at this point. She'd be like the junkie who is forced into rehab, then as soon as they're sprung buys some heroin and ODs.

The only problem with Optifast though is that you have to attend mandatory behavioral and counseling sessions, as well as meetings with an exercise specialist and dietitians, and go to weekly meetings with other fatties on top of regular doctor appointments. Not sure how it is in Kuwait but Chins could never!

I looked at Opti-Fast. As far as I can tell, it's exactly the same nutritional content as Atkins brand protein shakes, but by prescription only for some reason, and at more than four times the cost.
