I'll attempt to explain Honeycomb's business and what I think is probably happening internally.
Honeycomb solves two related and distinct (difficult @ scale) problems in the "developer tooling" ecosystem: 1) the collection/storage of logging (or telemetry), and 2) the visualization and alerting on that telemetry. There are a significant number of tools that SaaS companies purchase which help software engineers identify, troubleshoot, and remediate problems that are similar (and frankly, better) than Honeycomb. It's a pretty competive landscape.
You may look at their homepage and think, "wow they have some pretty big customers" and that's only a half-truth. Large companies like Dropbox and Hellofresh have dozens (or more) teams and they're all fairly silo'd. It's likely that only a small portion of those companies actually use Honeycomb while other teams might use Datadog or Splunk (or some other competitor). I noticed several of the other big names that used to be on their homepage aren't there anymore. (where did Booking.com, Slack, circleci, heroku, Vanguard, and RedHat go?)
As another member shared earlier, I believe they will eventually be bought out at a fraction of the valuation they once held, IPO isn't on the table now. Elliot will find himself unemployable in a sea of mediocre developer has-beens whose only value is long extinguished now that everyone is sick of the tranny mafia. Hit me with that optimistic, I can take it.
Internally, I can only imagine how demoralized their actual engineers (you know, the ones building the product) are watching their executive team needlessly waste all their time engaging in useless polemic debates and the online culture war. Have you seen Elliot's Bluesky feed lately? He's terminally doom posting on there, especially with the recent administration change and I know he's not getting any actual work done (not that he ever was). Now, multiply that by 10-20x since a large number of their employees share the same infected cult hive mind dementia.
Either way, I've particularly enjoyed watching Elliot and his brothers sperg out on social media as they now begin to realize their protected status was only temporary and the cultural zeitgeist is rebounding hard and fast. They actually believe they're going to be rounded up into camps and gassed like the Jews were in 1940s Germany.

The tech community has always been filed to the brim with annoying cunts that produce almost nothing to society. Any decent person in tech is either an oldfag that barely can do anything due to reaching retirement or a rare gem that tries to actually produce something worthwhile but is blocked by layers of corporate bullshit and the cattegories that I am going to present below.
95% of people who work in tech nowadays are one or more of the following categories:
- Troons who do jackshit that transisioned because no woman would have sex with them
- Missoginistic and overall empathy lacking cunts who would tell a widowed mother to "just learn to code, oh wait you are a woman, you can't learn shit now do me a sandwich"
- Redditors that glaze Zuck and Elon Musk like gods
- Druggies and junkies that spend their ridiculously high salaries on psychoactive substances, some of them may discover empathy after chugging 5 tabs of acid and mix of shrooms
- DEI hires that do nothing else than just complain about anything
- Retarded autists that think that their startup will change the world by implementing a new ride sharing service with AI technology, these people also are Elon dick riders.
- People who hate anyone else working any other job except tech. God forbid anyone chooses any other career path like blue colar or creative jobs.

His title is "Field CTO" which sounds an awful lot like they just pay him to be a troon and stay the fuck away from them. They send him out to give pointless presentations at industry conventions and shit like that. I doubt he's really in a position where he gets to hire and fire many people. It's more like he is one of the many severely mentally ill and useless troon beneficiaries of those who are handing out VC money to pay troons to do nothing of use, or to actively harm the company like Dong-Gone by using his position to go around harassing people with girr tarks and destroy the Internet.

There is like a 50/50 spread of those. Yes there are those who became like this due to work but also those who were just that way when they started college. Met a lot of CS students who were just like this even before taking their first internship.

There's a subset of this which is "software engineers who hate anyone with the ability to close a circuit". I assume they're angry that their world-changing work depends on the normal-looking guys doing a job they can't.
