NEW DELHI (AP) — A court in India's western Goa state on Monday sentenced a 31-year-old man to life in prison for raping and murdering an Irish woman at a popular tourist resort nearly eight years ago.
The body of 28-year-old Danielle McLaughlin was found by a farmer on a beach popular with holidaymakers in Goa in March 2017. An autopsy showed that cerebral damage and constriction of the neck caused her death.
Vikat Bhagat was found guilty of the crime on Friday. McLaughlin’s family in a statement had said they and her friends were “thankful to the public prosecutor and the investigating officer for justice.”
Usually, rape victims cannot be named under Indian law. In this case, the victim’s family spoke to the media to raise awareness of her case.
The crime highlighted persistent violence against women in India despite tougher laws against sexual assault imposed after the 2012 death of a young woman who was gang-raped on a bus in New Delhi.
Goa is a popular backpacking destination in India. Millions of tourists visit its numerous beach resorts every year.

This is all easy to say in retrospect of course, and I never knew of or paid attention to him before, but I really don't understand how it took so long to figure out it was a grifting jeet like Ramaswamy was. Even beyond the crypto scam, all the warning signs were there—just look at this screenshot and it's obvious:

I am just dubious because the English on Inevitable West's account seems too good to be written by an Indian in India, there was also a similar case with this Israeli guy who is widely claimed to be an Indian but actually did turn out to be an Israeli living in Israel.
A cursory look at his timeline and posting history suggests he is cozy with Tommy Robinson, who is notoriously Hindu and Sikh-phillic. But on the other hand, it would be very easy for him to just post his skin or eye with a timestamp to prove he really is English or whatever he claims to do, no idea why Miles is doing this charade of trying to meet with him in real life.

I would bet that the murderer here was low-caste. If it were a Brahmin who did the raping, the judge would have done exactly this.
Edit - according to Wikipedia, the guy's last name is shared with some Punjabi Brahmins, but Goa is nowhere near Punjab. It's more likely that he's a Maratha from the last name, putting him in a low-middle caste (the peasants/farmers).

The Ganges is one of the most polluted rivers on Earth, contaminated by sewage, industrial waste, human remains, and disease.Millions of litres of raw sewage are dumped into the river daily, turning it into a flowing sewer.
Varanasi alone releases 200 million litres of untreated human sewage into the river every single day.
Factories discharge untreated industrial chemicals, heavy metals, and toxins directly into the water.
Plastic waste and rotting religious offerings create floating islands of garbage and decay.
Safe bathing water should contain no more than 500 fecal coliform bacteria per 100ml, but near Varanasi’s ghats, it reaches 60,000 per 100ml—120 times the safe limit.
Cremated human remains are routinely dumped into the river, and even whole bodies are often left to decompose in the water.
Pregnant women, leprosy victims, suicide victims, children under 5, and the extremely poor are not cremated—instead, their corpses are thrown into the Ganges to rot and float downstream.
Many families cannot afford enough wood for full cremation, leading to half-burned body parts drifting through the river.
80% of illnesses in India and one-third of deaths are linked to waterborne diseases originating from the Ganges.
The river is a breeding ground for cholera, typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis, and severe skin infections.
Pilgrims believe a “holy dip” in the Ganges will cleanse their sins, but instead, they immerse themselves in a lethal cocktail of filth, decay, and disease.
Every time the river floods, dead bodies, raw sewage, and industrial toxins spread across towns and villages, turning streets into disease-ridden wastelands.
