UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

How many times does this guy want to do photos ops with Muslims?

@Chaotic Pizzaparty - Our military, as in the physical military of planes and tanks, is small and gay. Our ability, and the strategic planning of battles, attacks and general war, are the best in the world.
I've had the honour of working closely with the French, German, Romanian, Bulgarian, Canadian and Australian armed forces, on the ground, and I've had the displeasure of spending 6 months with the American Army. I won't/can't elaborate why, just trust me (bro), they're thick as fuck and the blue-on-blue is very rarely an accident.

They say an army's strength is 8/10ths perception, and while our American friends on this board will hate me for saying it, their army is a paper tiger. All of the toys and flashy weaponry, none of the ability or strategy.

The biggest issue, in my opinion, is institutional arrogance, with this belief that because the Armed Forces haven't lost a war in the history of the country, then it can never lose a war. This can theoretically be mended by combat, but what cannot be is the hollowing out of war-critical industry. People have this idea, especially in America, that factories and shipyards can be summoned out of the aether like what was done in World War II, to become the arsenal of democracy. But it simply cannot happen like that anymore. There'd need to be a ten year 30s-styl re-industrialization and rearmament campaign to even get close to that.

It’s one of its biggest strengths as defeat is an alien concept to the British army. It’s why it’s so remarkably tough. When other armed forces are planning a withdrawal, our army are brewing a cup of tea and moaning about the weather.

I remember reading someone who served alongside British forces in Kosovo who admired our stubbornness. If the British were ask to hold a position it held. The enemy would run out of ammunition or bodies before the we‘d moved an inch.

Remember Andy mcknob?
The reason him and the rest of the sas were in Iraq is the entire American army couldn't find fucking scud missiles so it was left to gangs of 4 squaddies in land rovers to go full A team in the desert.

That's the difference between numbers and brains.

While I understand the sentiment about leaving I cannot for one agree with it. This is our home, we shouldn't abandon it. My people have been here since before the bloody Romans showed up, I can't just leave because its getting tough. It will get worse before it gets better but it will get better. We just have to hold on until then.

Indeed, I will die before I consneed my Albion and this is something rootless cosmopolitans who casually move 1000 miles like merimutts can never hope to understand, our ancestors have dwelled in these islands since time immemorial; we didn't emigrate from 3 or 4 different old countries and become 1/16 Cherokee along the way or anything like that either because we have always been here and always will be here. We've had fresh blood a few times but as established by my nigger Cheddarman and his living still yet local descendent the people of this place are something older and more sacred than anything capable of "just leaving".

Speaking of things ancient and flames that time itself can never hope to extinguish...

Anonymous posters have appeared on Hampstead Heath imploring dogwalkers to “take back” the area from gay men who “cruise” the park for sex.
“Use a hook up app like Grindr or Sniffies & get a room,” read a number of signs put up on the western side of the north London park. “Please give West Heath back to the local neighbourhood.”
The signs were gone within 24 hours. One was pulled down by local resident Michael Pitt.

One of the signs in the western side of the park
One older gay man, who asked to remain anonymous, said his generation “prefer not to use the apps’, adding: “We were here first.”
Men have been “cruising” Hampstead Heath since the 19th century and 200 years later it remains one of Europe’s most notorious spots. Cruising began as a response to sodomy and indecency laws.

The heath’s most famous “cruiser” was George Michael, the singer, who told the Richard and Judy show in 2006 that it was “the only place in London where (the police accept it) so it’s generally a safe place”.
Pitt, 56, said he believed that those who put the sign up were new to the area. He added that in his experience, longstanding locals shared his “live and let live” mentality.
“The gay community were oppressed for many years, so they would meet men outside to avoid this. You won’t stop it now,” he said. He said he pulled the sign down as it would “stir discrimination” and “encourage division”.

The City of London Corporation, which owns the park, said that flyposting not allowed in the park

An area of undergrowth known for cruising was cleared by the heath’s grounds team just a day after the signs were posted.
Cruising, the act of seeking out a sexual partner in a public place, often in lay-bys, parks or beaches, is not illegal, but what follows might be. The Sexual Offences Act 2003 criminalises indecent exposure, defined by a person intentionally exposing their genitals to cause alarm or distress. If you are found guilty of having sex in public, you could be considered to be outraging public decency, which is considered a more serious crime than indecent exposure.
The area is owned and maintained by the City of London Corporation. The body said: “Our teams undertake regular vegetation management to support biodiversity and help ensure the heath remains a welcoming space for everyone. We encourage all visitors to use the heath respectfully and considerately.
“We are aware of reports of signs being put up in the area which were not authorised by us. Flyposting will be removed as part of our regular patrols and cleans of the heath.”
Bumming in the bushes is LANDAN heritage apparently.

I'd be a tad more optimistic. I don't see the avenue for that as it stands at the moment with any of the main parties. Rayner is likely to oust or replace Starmer if he doesn't run in the next election. Badenoch beat out a white guy so if she's gone, she'd likely be replaced with a white, and she's not Muslim herself. Lib Dems, also a white guy. Only chance I can see of a Muslim leading the UK is if Labour put one up as a hail Mary in the 2029 election, or if the winner converted whilst in office.

I don't think much of the electorate would willingly elect a non-white. They didn't vote for our first non-white prime minister, as Sunak got his position unelected and the conservative party pretty much died under his stewardship. Whilst they do have Badenoch in charge at the moment, it remains to be seen if she'll make it to the election without being replaced, and if she end up running, it becomes plausible for someone to theory craft that Badenoch being made Conservative party leader was orchestrated to push people towards Reform lol.

Degenerate homosexual Peter Tatchell is currently working directly with the Met police and has thrown public tantrums on social media when councils have gotten rid of shrubbery because gay men won't stop having public sex in them.

Nothing about this article surprises me knowing that.

I could have sworn some of those guys wound up with frostbite and needed to be evaced by American REMFs because they forgot deserts get cold at night and didn't pack warm socks and gloves.

The supply drop for them fucked up. Nearest way out was through mountains to Syria.

I think it was operation granby. It was mad what those lads got up to and worth reading about. Proper mad lads just going for it fucking up Iraqi positions.

Scotland. Do you think they would've ended up worse had they gained independence and being in the UK saved them from themselves for the most part, or is this insane bent towards hyper Leftism a consequence of trying to counteract the perceived conservativeness of the English?

In the rest of the UK you can be arrested for protesting within 150 metres of a satanic worship abortion clinic.

Edited because they backed off on a lot of what they wanted to do.
