I won't disagree with you that the government is a responsible for a good portion of problems the United States is facing but ascribing everything to it and ignoring culture-shaping institutions in the form of NGOs, academia, news publications and the entertainment industry as well as the impact they have because they are deemed "illusory" doesn't seem wise. Am I missing something here? Last I checked the 1st Amendment doesn't give you the right to access White House press chambers. It simply prevents the government from prosecuting for speech. AP's right to the press aren't being trampled if they're no longer welcome in the White House because that access was a privilege, not a right. The judge is a Trump appointee anyway so I hardly think they'll win. This looks more like an optics case than anything else. AP knows they're going to lose but they'll use it as a chance to smear Trump (again) as an anti democratic tyrant
