This picture's been making the rounds again. Best defense I've heard of it was "It was different in the 80's!"
But was it, though?

The gay stuff definitely was imported. The biggest proof is furry art, the amateur and commercial stuff, from the beginning and well through the 90s, was 99% straight, featuring women. Even the "gay" stuff seemed to lean towards being more feminine.

The underage stuff? Well that could be argued it was always a part of furry.

It's as close as you can get. "Your twitter makes me sneed."

"People would still make dragon dildos without capitalism"
Would they really, though? Definitely not on the same level of enterprise, but very few people would DIY one and even fewer would do it for their own personal use. That level of exotic sexual product is explicitly well, a product!

They've been walking back on this somewhat but not really. Mainly through the /hmofa/ (Human Male on Female Anthro) "movement" of 4channers that frequent /v/. But those guys don't typically like being called furries, despite their tastes in pornography.

I'm pretty excited. This has drama and lolsuit potential both.
Well, there is no joy in Siliconeville, it seems. For the mighty lolsuit (Bad Dragon v. SinSaint) has struck out. (Relevant ruling attached)

We have nothing terribly interesting here. No findings of dildo-fact, no dramatic courtroom scenes, nothing. Instead we have essentially a motion to dismiss granted due to lack of personal jurisdiction. Ya filed it wrong, son. It is without prejudice, but I don't think this one's coming back. If you look at Sinsaint's catalog, they appear to have been spooked off of anything that looks like a BD design.

It could be argued that being a furry requires stronger dedication, self-actualization within fandom and some degree of participation in that fandom. Like uwu, owo, updooting popfurs, going to the cons and all that shit. They don't do it, and whatever they are doing, I would speculate, takes much lesser share of their lives and identity than being furry to a furry.

There's an observation I've made. Nowadays the membership in such non-regulated groups as fandoms and lifestyles is focusing more on ingroup/outgroup dynamics. Hard to explain, but before it was "I like/am X therefore I'm in Y", and now it's "I'm in Y, therefore I must do/be X", if that makes sence.

Dragon ones specifically? Probably not since those are popular due to the community around them and for the bragging rights they offer in those communities.

Would people still make huge fuckin' dildos without capitalism? Yes, because humans be human.

I'm going to gate keep and very clearly say that one is not a furry merely because they jork it to furry porn. If they don't actively partake in the fandom in some manner they aren't really a furry, just a person with an unusual taste in smut.

There's a dick/gay kind of question like that what floats around. It's something like "do you suck dick because you're a faggot, or are you a faggot because you suck dick?" and the underlying conversation is about either the chicken and the egg or the tortoise and the hare, depending on which version of it you encounter. On the tortoise question, the posers quit before the fifth round starts and the stragglers before the poppers come out. No idea about the other one, it gets very trauma dumpy and ruins the mood.

What you're looking for is "every group is becoming a lifestyle that expects member conformity". It's sort of the natural result of the corporate mindset of "make customers into fanatics" bleeding outwards into everything else in culture, combined with the complete destruction of most "third spaces" i.e. hubs for normal social interaction.

Back in the day people would join hobby groups or interest groups or weirdo groups or whatever because of the single shared interest that the group advertises itself on. The people themselves were often quite different, from different backgrounds, with different opinions, and so on. Nowadays, people join a group because they basically want a social circle, the activity is secondary to their goals even if they are interested. Then, when they get into the group, there are expectations placed upon them that go far beyond what you would normally, sanely expect. "It's not enough to just want to play DnD, you have to vote for Kamala and say trans rights and wear this T-shirt and..." Many people just tap out at this point, but the ones who really are interested or are really desperate for a friend group conform and become good little cult members.

Because that's what these groups have become, cults. Like a Freemasons or Skull & Bones society type cult, to be specific. While they're not entirely centered around religious worship, they demand concessions in the personal lives of their members, conformity of belief and action in a limited way, and reward the ingroup for this to create a feedback loop guaranteeing loyalty. It's just that the reward for them is "keeping your social group and not being character assassinated on Twitter" instead of money and power like a proper cult, which makes it far more pathetic.

On topic: Fuck, I was hoping to see some funny courtroom drama. Oh well, there's always a next time.

Except if you're even asking that question, everyone else knows you're a gay faggot.

You're a faggot because you suck dick, and you suck dick because you're a faggot. There is not some quandary or paradox here. You're just a faggot who sucks dick. Why ask why?
