I'll concede that harassing might be a strong word. I do believe that once an error is acknowledged, the party receiving the acknowledgement of error should be a gracious victor. I stand by that. Exceptions exist for the particularly cruel and sadistic, but I do believe in clemency for admission of error amongst the rank and file. Particularly egregious offenders might deserve more response, but error alone does not justify it by my estimation.

The problem is that most of them are not plugged into politics beyond what they see on whatever website/app they use for entertainment. Most vote Democrat because their parents/grandparents did on the basis that Democrat politicians decades ago managed to make the pivot from being segregationists to “freedom fighters” during the civil rights (remember, LBJ was the president at the time; he did not like black people at all but knew he had to get with the program or his party was going to get stranded).
