Mega Rad Gun Thread

Recently inherited some rifles and shotguns. One of them is a rem.7400 3006. Anyone have any personal experience with them?
popular semi-auto hunting rifle of years past. it's a good rifle, but has reliability issues if not kept in good condition, especially with conscientious cleaning of the gas system. once it gets dirty or you aren't using ammunition that works in it's recoil envelope or if the magazine is, the rifle will malfunction and be somewhat hard to diagnose. newer models like the 742 improved things somewhat but the 7400 itself just doesn't lend itself to hard use. personally i found them to be prone to mediocre accuracy as well, but that might just be my experience.

Was thinking about buying a scope and installing a sling but read some concerning issues with the model. Was gonna retire my 3030 marlin & use the 7400 or the weatherby 7mm.

"Better" would be a pretty severe understatement, yeah. Also, the A300 came with a neat laser-cut piece of adhesive-backed Velcro loop material for slapping shotgun cards on the left side of the receiver.
If you get one with a cerokote finish keep in mind you don’t get the Velcro backing. Apparently the Velcro glue was tearing the finish on some people guns. Just something to keep in mind if that’s important to you.

Obligatory new gun porn. Mine is multicam so I can fit in with all the duck hunters

Oh come on, do you REALLY need another firearm? (Yes you do, buy buy buy!)
I'm sure my other firearms won't mind a 60th or so brother
Bruh

Some are even under $400. Some are LEM, some aren't. Even HK45's and 45C's, too. No 9's of course, but there are .40s...
I looked at some Kansas site that had them for $392 but that shit looks like a scam. I bought a LE trade in S&W Model 64 last week for around $400 after shipping and tax. Just got it yesterday, scratched to hell but everything is fine

I have a 5946 that I quite enjoy, and HK's LEM is the best "version" of "DAO" so far devised, imho.

If I bought a DAK Sig for whatever reason, you can always fix them with the proper parts easy enough.
When I was looking for my 5906, I saw a bunch of 5946s for some pretty great prices and ended up paying a fair bit more for the traditional DA/SA version, so if DAO isn't a dealbreaker, there are some great deals to be had.

I picked up my 5946, NIB, about four years ago.

Apparently there was a whole warehouse of them just sitting around from the last run, so I jumped on an unfired one, because I'm not gonna miss out on one of these after not getting a 1006 when the getting was good.

I wish I still had my ex-FBI issued 1076. It was in such clean condition, especially for a formerly issued sidearm.

Save up a bit more and find yourself a pre-1970s pinned and recessed model. Much higher quality than the modern stuff.
pre-1988 Model 29's are not suited for .44 magnum cartridges and will go out of time quickly. the pins will shear in the frame, and the barrels had a life span of 5,000 rounds due to forcing cone erosion. it was just a .44 special bored out to take the longer rounds after all. IIRC after the endurance package the cylinders were made of a tougher alloy. the model 25s in .45 colt do not have this fancy cylinder alloy and thus cannot take the same loads a ruger or colt anaconda can.

Modern new build model 29s are the best constructed model 29s to come out of the factory, its the quality assurance that makes them suffer.

Anyone have a Ruger PC carbine? I think they look kinda neat for the reasonable price they are. Apparently someone makes a 92 mag adapter for them too. That and the Glock mag adapter and man you have a little takedown carbine that can take two really common magazines. What's the recoil like on a blowback pcc vs an AR?
