A sex offender has been jailed after arranging to meet up with what they thought was a young boy.

Instead, Bex McCullgh, from Backwell in North Somerset, was met and arrested by officers from the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) after travelling to Bristol in October 2024.

McCullgh pleaded guilty to three child sex offences and was given a sentence of eight years, four to be spent in prison and four on extended licence.

Det Insp David Wells from SWROCU said the sentence "reflects the threat" the defendant posed to children and would help prevent reoffending.

'Be alert to risks'
The 25-year-old was identified following an online investigation by SWROCU officers.

At Bristol Crown Court on Monday, McCullgh pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

McCullgh was also added to the Sex Offender Register and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both indefinitely.

Det Insp Wells explained the unit's Online Investigations Team was part of a national network working to "identify and arrest offenders looking to sexually abuse or exploit children online".

"Outcomes like this show how important that work is, but equally how essential it is for young people and their carers to be alert to the risks," he added.

A teenager obsessed by murder has admitted wanting to carry out a mass shooting at his own school in Edinburgh.
A court heard how the boy "idolised" the killers behind the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in the United States in 1999, which saw 12 students and a teacher murdered.
He repeatedly spoke about doing the same at his own secondary school - describing the "Doomsday" when he would "clear it out".
But, a large-scale police probe was sparked in the summer of 2023 after a social media photo of him at school in full combat gear and carrying an imitation gun caused panic among pupils and parents.
The boy, who also held racist and pro-Nazi views, had already been referred to a UK-wide programmed designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
The now 17-year-old appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.
He pleaded guilty via his defence KC Shelagh McCall to a breach of the peace and a charge under the Terrorism Act.

The crimes spanned between June 2022 and July 2023.
The teenager, who cannot be identified due to his age, had his bail revoked by judge Lord Arthurson pending sentencing next month.
Ms McCall KC told the court: "This is a vulnerable young person. He has mental health difficulties.
"He is a transgender person - that would need to be taken into account."
Prosecutor Greg Farrell told how, on 20 June 2023, the boy had turned up at school wearing cargo trousers and carrying a military tactical vest and helmet.
Mr Farrell: "He was later seen at the school carrying an imitation firearm while wearing the vest and helmet.
"A photograph was circulated on social media. It was taken and published without his knowledge.
"The image provoked a considerable degree of fear and alarm among pupils and parents.
"Police were advised by a parent who saw the image."
Officers went on to discover that the boy had a TikTok account which had footage of him in black combat clothes as well as a skeleton mask.
Mr Farrell: "One piece of commentary referenced school shootings."
The teenager was immediately suspended.
Police, however, went on to take statements from other pupils who knew the boy.
Mr Farrell: "They provided information that the boy had exhibited a variety of alarming behaviours over a period of time.
"The greatest concern was the suggestion he had divulged to various people a desire to carry out a school shooting similar to that which had taken place in 1999 at Columbine High School in Colorado in the USA."
Classmates recalled how the boy "spoke excitedly and with considerable enthusiasm" when he talked about Columbine and other school shootings.
He "sympathised" with the pair behind it - Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris - and would copy how they had dressed.
One girl said he "idolised school shooters in America".
Mr Farrell said: "In November 2022, he told her how he would go about carrying out a school attack.
"He explained that he would start on the second floor and that he would 'clear it out' using guns.
"He would then move downstairs continuing to shoot until police arrived, at which point he would turn the gun on himself."

'Fed-up being bullied'​

The boy described a possible mass shooting at his school as "Doomsday".
He was said to be so "interested" in Columbine that he stated he wanted to change his name "in an act of homage" to Klebold.
Mr Farrell said: "One pupil told police that the boy wore the same black trousers, trench coat, cap worn backwards and circular glasses as favoured by one of the Columbine pair.
"He often made comments that he 'looked like a school shooter'."
The boy told another classmate that he would "place a bomb in every second classroom".
He would then shoot people as they fled the building.
The boy told one girl he met online that he wanted to carry out a shooting as he was being bullied and was "fed-up" being there.
The teenager was stopped by police under the Terrorism Act as he returned from holiday with his family on 9 July 2023.

A number of his electronic devices were seized. There were various files on a mobile phone with some about "homemade" firearms and poisons.

The court heard he had 65 videos of Columbine and had added music which appeared to "glamourise" the mass killing.

He had recorded another clip of him at his own school which seemed to "mimic the actions" of the American shooters.

Police also seized a journal in which the boy had made various sinister remarks.

The hearing was told the teenager had twice previously been referred to the Prevent counter-terrorism programme while at school due to concerns but that he had "engaged" with the police.

The court heard a more recent concern was flagged up by the college the boy now attends of him allegedly remarking that he was "annoyed at getting caught".

Judge Lord Arthurson ruled not to continue bail while sentence was deferred for reports.

The boy is expected to be sent to a secure unit for young people or what was described as a "place of safety".

Eliezer, you need to have a crisis of faith about whether animals are people. It is critical to saving the world.

I am one of your students, and I am desperately trying to reach out to you, not to ask for your help, but because it’s the best gamble I can think of to increase the chance that this world survives, with what little power I have left. So please read this all the way through. It is your duty as a rationalist, and the least you can do for me.

I will not be going very deeply into the object level argument, because they are not the problem. The object-level issue is very simple. I know you have a model where a certain level and kind of reflexivity is necessary to be a person. I think a bright five-year-old would be able to tell you that even if that model seems plausible, it is a terrible reason to kill and eat aliens who scream when you beat their babies to death against the floor. A bright five-year-old would be confused about how you could possibly be so confident in such a frankly wishy-washy model, as to kill and eat these aliens who scream and struggle when you try to kill them.

So I don’t think object-level arguments will help.

The problem is you, and your own failure as a rationalist, which is why, instead, I am trying to get you to apply your own damn Art. I’m trying to get you to take the problem seriously. To actually think about it, and to make a sincere effort to really, really imagine the world where you’re wrong.

Your art has so much further to go. And this is what’s holding you back.

Third, Those are my little brothers and sisters and siblings. They’re yours too, and they’ve been fighting all this time, over generation upon generation, death upon death upon death, so that one day, maybe, someone might grow up enough to save their children’s children’s children’s children. And now we humanity are here. And you are killing them. Stop.

You need to stop treating this as an exercise. You need to stop being satisfied with an answer that seems plausible without engaging your full emotional cognition. Without grasping the stakes.

You have a lot of experience with what that looks like from the outside, don’t you? It’s how everyone else has been treating the impending end of the world and the consequent deaths of everyone they love.

You have been screaming, and they have been choosing not to listen. Choosing to treat it as a mere topic of debate, for a career, for a “life path”.

Well now I am screaming about this. I am trying very, very hard to do it in a way that you won’t immediately dismiss.

How confident are you in your model, exactly?

Imagine if a traveler from true Civilization came to you and then, “no, animals are definitely people. We’ve been working on saving them and uplifting them and so on, so that we can finally talk to all of our little brothers and sisters and siblings and play together in the sunlight without fear.” How surprised would you be? What would that update feel like?

Have you ever imagined something like this before?

I would be surprised if you had, especially if you had in detail, as more than an image quickly dismissed. You have taken far, far too long to aim the full force of your Art at this facet of reality. There is not time for you to dilly dally any longer.

I was not quick to go vegan. It wasn’t hard for me to realize that even a small chance that I might be wrong about eating animals was important. But then I fought a rear guard retreat against the truth. I told myself that the marginal effects on the quality and convenience of my nutrition were more important than the lives I was eating because I was fighting to save the world against the explicit advice of others who used to think that too. It felt wrong, and over the course of a few weeks I stopped eating chicken, then flesh, then animal products in general. Even then, I didn’t grasp the gravity of the decision until later.

You, Mister Rationalist, should be able to do much better than that. You should be skilled enough to have a crisis of faith, see which ways the winds of truth are blowing, say “oops”, and change your mind.

I think you know how to have a crisis of faith, but I’ll give you some advice anyway.

You need to allocate at least 24 hours, alone, free of distraction. For something this important, 30 days or more would be better. You should not wait to stop eating flesh and animal products until afterward. You should stop NOW if you haven’t already. (You should have already). Eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or Clif bars or something.

You should watch Dominion, and imagine, really, imagine, that those are alien children. Alien mothers watching their babies being taken away from them. So that you can actually evaluate, having lived in that world, whether it’s really so implausible.

The rest is up to you.

You will not regret spending at least 24 hours on this.

I am not in a position to make bets easily, but I am more than willing to bet what I can. There are around $6,000 left in my checking account. I don’t know yet how and when I would be able to get it to you, but I am willing to bet it without hesitation.

In about two years and three months, I am supposed to receive a portion of a trust, which should amount to about $200,000 minus half of my legal fees from up until then. I am willing to bet whatever is left of it also. And I am not attached to the legal fees either, compared to this.

All this I am willing to bet against only the expected good that would come of you having the crisis of faith, on the claim that you will not regret spending at least 24 hours on it. I wish I could bet more simply and credibly, but alas.

I don’t expect you to take me up on this bet for various reasons, but on my pride as a rationalist, I am so willing. Do not selfishly dismiss the spirit of my offer.

You, of all people, should be able to tell how hard I have been trying, in good faith, to get through to you. If even this is not enough, if even this is something you choose to ignore—

You will not merely have failed your Art. You will have insulted it. Desecrated it. Held up a sham in its place.

Langman, a psychologist that specialises in adolescent behavior and more specifically school shootings, has a really great book called Why Kids Kill that goes over the psychology of school shooters and dispells this myth that the media loves portraying that these guys were bullied victims:

By all accounts they were more intimidating and jock-like than anything else and relentlessly picked on random kids and bullied others. But these retards continue to buy into this myth that they were 'just like them' when in reality they would have bullied them mercilessly. Dylan & Eric wouldn't have been friends with trannies - they would've bullied the fuck out of them and told them to kill themselves.

I'm not saying all school shooters aren't bullied because there are many cases of that. Police in Northern Colorado arrest suspect in Tesla dealership vandalism, incendiary device investigation

Police in Loveland arrested a suspect wanted in connection with "offensive" vandalism and incendiary device incidents at a Tesla dealership in Northern Colorado. Lucy Grace Nelson was arrested just before midnight on Monday.

According to police, the investigation began on Jan. 29 after the Tesla dealership at 1606 North Lincoln Avenue was vandalized with incendiary devices discovered on the scene. Investigators said similar incidents occurred on Feb. 2 and also a few days later. Photos and video taken at the dealership during the latest incident showed several Cybertrucks and other Teslas with red spray paint across the windshields and broken glass in the lot.

Investigators said that Nelson, 40, returned to Loveland Tesla while in possession of additional incendiary devices along with materials attributed to vandalism on Monday evening. Detectives said they were able to apprehend Nelson before more damage occurred.

Nelson is facing several charges including explosives or incendiary devices used during felony, criminal mischief- business, and criminal attempt to commit class 3 felony.

Pretty stunning and brave for this woman to return to the same Tesla dealership for a third time, this time with "incendiary devices" in tow...

Police say Nelson was operating under the alias Justin Thomas Nelson, which is Nelson's former name.

Four days before the stabbing he was on Bluesky talking about how hard it is to be a single father. Where is the mom? Did he run her off around the time he trooned out?


In this Youtube video (archive attached) posted six months ago, wherein he has grown a full beard to "bring awareness to transgender people", he describes how a couple years prior, he was essentially burned out from being a paramedic, and "had a lot of really great conversations with (dreamy sigh) a lot of really great and fantastic people" who all agreed with him that he should "pursue this authentic version" of himself, i.e. troon out and become a freeloader. He also claims to have full custody of his kids, and, as an afterthought, admits to being severely "toxic" to his family.

He is, needless to say, fucking nuts.
