I know PhDs in academia who are respected experts in their particular field that literally cannot answer the phone, can barely do their taxes, and generally have zero understanding of how to do the basic shit that an adult is required to do.

My only fear is that they will try though. The next Democrat President will run on a campaign of "restoring the government" and bringing back thousands of Federal workers and restoring all the crazy grants and foreign aid. This will be a hard sell, to tell Americans they want to increase the size of government and increase spending. But they might be able to sell it, with sad stories of stronk Black single mothers out on the streets after losing their (remote) DC bureaucrat jobs, or transgender "women" murdered in Nigeria because we cut funding for trans interpretive dance/masturbation programs. They could try to sell it by promising not to raise taxes--just go full mask off on fiat money printer goes BRRR policy and say "The National Debt isn't real, it doesn't matter. There are no consequences so just print more money and let it go to $500 Trillion who cares?"

It's because the modern education system doesn't teach you to think. It's more akin to religious indoctrination than actual education. That's why they use terms like "miracle of science." Science isn't a miracle, it's studying how things are observed and functionality in nature. Turning on lights, watching cell walls divide, and cataloging new animal or insect species while cool aren't close to what I would call miraculous. Even more advanced shit isn't miraculous. It's the product of rigorous trial and error testing over prolonged periods. It's just meant to suplant religion because humans are naturally religious beings. The subject of worship changes by era and region but all humans worship something greater than themselves.

That's fair. Maybe he isn't anti-Trump per se, but he's currently against what I see as the best shot at reducing the state, executive as well. Trump is effective at making the legislature his whipping post until they do their fucking jobs. Optimistic, I know, but I'm excited to see what developments come over the next 4 years.
Slight correction. She used her position as mayor AND township supervisor to live rich. It was the township supervisor position that gave her the bulk of that money ($230k+ a year iirc). The previous township supervisor held the position for over 20 years and had a lot of connections and power hence why he earned the big bucks.

As I've touched on previously in this thread, I think there has to be a holistic approach. I understand the need for a strong executive to enact immediately corrective action, but I really think instead of an American Caesar that so many people are wanting Trump to be, we need an American Cincinnatus, who will take the strong executive action to right the ship, and then voluntarily relinquish that power and take steps to prevent its abuse.
A lot of people would like like there to be an American Cincinnatus but at the same time it should be recognized how rare a person like that is. The only two in the public conscious who come to mind are Cincinnatus himself who lived over 2000 years ago and George Washington.
