Stuff you thought was cool but wasn't

I thought those Japanese TV watches were the coolest thing ever, I really wanted one as a kid.

The fucking thing runs out of battery really quick.
In order to get any signal on it, you had to carry that black thing in the back of the pic with you.
The audio and video quality was shit, not even close to what you see here.
Just a bad product that, while innovative, came way too early, the tech just wasn't there yet.

even if it doesnt work as advertised, that is still a cool watch.
speaking of watched, this reminds me that as a kid i thought those calculator watches were the coolest thing ever. i wanted one so bad but my mom refused to buy me one saying i would cheat on math test. which really hurt me since i honestly wouldn't cheat on tests as a kid
i got one when i was a bit older and used to have it, but it is either lost in my closet or thrown away. honestly thought they are still sort of cool, but not nearly as cool as i thought they were.

When I was like 13 I unironically thought fedoras were the coolest piece of clothing ever.

(Thankfully I never took any compromising pictures with one.)
i have been told before that i could actually pull off a trilby. apparently i have the right shaped head for it, but i refuse to ever wear one in any circumstances because of the fedora tippers. the sad thing is it isnt a bad hat when worn properly, but it has been ruined by redditors.

Zoids.

Staying up late at night. It used to be a cool thing to do as a kid and you could afford to do it up through high school. But as you age and get into college and have a job, staying up late at night is not worth it unless you have to because overnight shifts. You just want to get home and have a good night's rest, fuck everything.

Nu Metal in the 2000s. A lot of bands from that brief period have fallen off from that wagon due to their inability to adapt and stay relevant. If you want a band that still thinks it's the 2000s, Seether is a great example since their material hardly changes.

Polarized Sunglasses. It's just one of those accessories that sometimes is commonly associated with douchebags that wear them, but not everyone.

Do you mean the bright rainbow or blue orange colored lenses? Yeah those are gay and typically worn by douches Because you can get polarized sunglasses in normal black or grey lense colors. Pretty cheap too. Frankly I don't know how some people drive without them some days. The glare off the road and snow can be terrible. Plus they make looking at fishes in the water way easier. And you can get them Z87 rated for added protection

Scarves. I used to wear a scarf at all times of the year in highschool. I thought it made me look cool. It made me look like a raging homosexual, looking back.
I wonder if you're that senior who took his shirt off at lunch while still wearing his scarf and asked all the freshmen girls to prom.
We all did in fact think you were gay.

This solar-powered fan that you roll up in the window of your car and it circulates the air while the car is parked.

They're still selling it 20 years later, so I'm not the only person who fell for it.

Thankfully no lmao I did my best to not draw attention to myself. I only wore them because I thought they looked cool, not to get attention.

EVs. I thought the idea was cool, but unfortunately we ended up with Tesla and their cultists.

Chinese EVs are the even bigger monstrosities that came about because of Musk, and there are numerous sheep that have bought them, not knowing the long-term pain they may experience due to their shoddy build quality, higher depreciation since they undercut other brand's EVs, and battery fires galore.
