Sheriff: Gene Hackman, wife found dead in Santa Fe home; no foul play suspected

BREAKING: Legend of an actor Gene Hackman has just been found dead in his Santa Fe, New Mexico home alongside his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, as well as their dog.
That hits hard. I rewatched Young Frankenstein not long ago and his scene with Peter Boyle is still one of the best and funniest parts of the whole movie.

Fuck this gay planet. What a shit thing to wake up to.

I wonder if Hackman's wife killed herself once he died naturally? Unless there was a gas leak or something. Either way RIP

According to his daughter, she thinks that him, the wife, and the dog all died of carbon monoxide poisoning. But typically carbon monoxide doesn't build up unless you have some sort of combustion going on, like a fireplace or an idling car. And if it was CO, then the dog would've expired first, right?

I legit had to log back in on here because I almost stopped brushing my teeth after finding out that Gene Hackman died. Right now, I hope this is not a Phil Hartman situation where the spouse killed all three of them in the house.

All I can say is watch The French Connection, and not the censored version. We love you Gene 😔

Idk, carbon monoxide got both of Weird Al’s parents iirc

Yeah, she couldn't get any parts because she was too curvy. So she cut them down.

That scumbag Vincent Gallo really fucked up her body image too. Apparently he constantly belittled her weight during the filming of Buffalo 66.

It looks like there was one dog in the house that was ok and another dog that was outside at the time. Also fine. There isn't any evidence of carbon monoxide poisoning at this time. It wouldn't be out of the question for a 95 year old man to simply drop dead due to being 95. But his 64 year old wife and one dog? That changes things.

Deputies did not see signs of forced entry into the Sante Fe, New Mexico, residence, and the front door was open upon their arrival, according to a search warrant. The Santa Fe City Fire Department, working with the New Mexico Gas Co., did not find evidence of a carbon monoxide leak or poisoning.

Hackman and Arakawa were found in separate rooms. The actor was found in a mudroom near his cane, appearing to have fallen, while his wife was found in an open bathroom near a space heater, with an open prescription bottle and pills scattered on the nearby countertop, according to the warrant. A deputy observed "body decomposition, bloating in her face" and mummification in her hands and feet.

One of the couple's German shepherds was also found dead less than 15 feet from Arakawa in a closet, while their other two dogs were found alive in the bathroom near Arakawa and outside.

I'm still thinking carbon monoxide and they just haven't found the source yet. It's not believed to be foul play. I can't think of anything else that would kill two people and a dog other than a bizarre coincidence that their times all came at once naturally. And I seriously doubt that's it.

Yeah, dog probably died because it got accidently shut in the closet and the other two were free. No telling the size of the dogs either, nor the pills. Headaches are common in c02 exposure.

One of his best roles was in Unforgiven as Little Bill.
He was such a fucking asshole in that film and played it so good.
He was a genuine mensch. He brought his best every time he did a role. Little Bill was so awesome an absolutely worthless prick.

My favorite Hackman role was in The Conversation, one of the best films ever made. I actually think it's better than the two Godfather films Coppola made at the same time.

The final scene breaks my brain evrey tiem.

IMO the bug is in his saxophone. Or it's utterly imaginary.
